The Governorate of Lewisia is a Governorate of the Kingdom of Fontasia. Its capital is the city of Lewisport. It is the largest Fontasian Governorate population wise, with a total population of 23.

The Governorate was the capital colony of the Massadorian (Cape Cod) colonies of the Fontasian Republic and later the Assemblic Empires from 2013 to 2022. It developed a unique culture unlike many other Fontasian and Assemblian influenced regions.

It is the tourist and naval capital of the Kingdom of Fontasia, among one of the few Fontasian territories to possess a port city and a coastline. The Governorate of Lewisia played the role as the major base for the Fontasian Defense Forces during the Dilu War and Feildstone Crisis in 2022.

Brief History

Prior to Fontasian colonization of the region, the area now consisting of Lewisia was controlled by a thalassocratic entity known as the Davosian Empire. The Davosians inhabited modern-day Lewisport, which then was called Klundarah.

In 2013, Fontasian explorers surveyed the area to potentially colonize the region, as their previous colony on the Cape Cod peninsula, Namskaket Plantation was becoming too hard to control. In August 2013, the Fontasian Republic was granted a some of the southern parts of Klundarah by the Davosians in exchange for large plots of land to the north given to the Davosians. The Fontasians established Lewisport, naming it after the bay it was located on, known as Lewis Bay. The Davosians granted the former home of the Davosian leadership to the Fontasians, becoming the Summer Palace the the Fontasian Royal Family.

Over the coming months, Fontasians flocked to the area, and ties remained peaceful with the Davosians. Fontasians began to interact with other peoples in the area, them being the Petrinians and Rentamians. They were friendly neighbors and slowly integrated with the Fontasians.

In summer 2014, the first Fontasian expeditions to explore the inland portions of the newly claimed lands, known as New Assemblia began. To the west of Lewisport, Fontasians discovered a peninsula flanked on one side by a river and the other Lewis Bay. They would name this peninsula Brandenburg Island, which years later would be renamed to Dilu Island.

After the Fontasian Revolution in 2015, Lewisia became the first colony of the First Assemblic Empire. This would begin Lewisia's long colonial period.

In 2016, the Davosians felt as they were being encroached upon, as more Fontasian settlement threatened their existence. They constructed a wall running along the northern border of the Summer Palace's property, which to this day is known as the Stockade. This damaged the peaceful relationship between Fontasians and Davosians. A unique blend of present native Lewisian and Fontasian culture began to form in Lewisia, creating modern Lewisian culture.

In 2017, Assemblian military forces conducted several exploration expeditions as well as naval drills, discovering the strategic Antores Pond in the New Assemblian frontier. During the First Assemblic Civil War, Republican forces allied with Rentamians besieged Lewisport and occupied the colony. Into 2018, relations drastically increased between Fontasians, the Rentamians and the Petrinians. In 2019 a tornado tore through the central part of the territory, damaging building and barely missing the Summer Palace. A year later, Lewisia would be occupied again by Imperialist forces in the Third Assemblic Civil War, and a 4.2 magnitude earthquake would strike the territory, with it becoming the only Fontasian territory to have a major earthquake. In 2021, Assemblian forces would visit the newly renamed Dilu Island.

In early 2022, several micronations would come to annex portions of Dilu Island, causing the Dilu Island dispute and furthermore the Dilu Island War. Months later, yet another annexation crisis would occur in the Feildstone Crisis between Fontasia and Zeprana, prompting a Fontasian invasion. Lewisia currently is the largest and most populated Fontasian Governorate, and has sizeable amounts of political power.

Located around 100 miles southeast of the mainland Fontasian territories, it is bordered to the north and west by the United States, the east by the Governorate of Imperial Beach and the south by the Kingdom of Bristolia and the Nantucket Sound. On Dilu Island, it is bordered by the Kingdom of Scynja, the Empire of Meritia and the Kingdom of Bristolia. The exclave is exclusively around Antores Pond and it is used for naval drills by the Fontasian Defense Forces. The Governorate is a coastal region consisting of flat, marshy land on the coast and sandy, flat land inland. There are several notable water masses that are within the territory, them being Lewis Bay, Brandenburg Cove and Nantucket Sound. The Great Island Peninsula creates the protective harbor of Lewis Bay, and provides the only western coastline in the Kingdom of Fontasia. Lewis Bay is known for its calm waters and boat activity.

Dilu Island is a peninsula on the western border of the Governorate, which is the outflow of the Dilu River into Lewis Bay. Several micronations claim and have claimed this island. Just east of there is Admiralty Point, a jetty that creates Crocus Harbor in the western part of Lewis Bay. To the east, down Crocus Coast there is another small river known as the Crocus River. Along the north coast of Great Island there are two uninhabited islands known as Kalibashta and Conor Island. The archipelago as a whole is known as the Elysian Islands, which are only accessible by boat.
