Fontasians, (Fontasjey in Fontasian) also known as the Fontasian people or Southwest Assemblians are the native inhabitants of the Kingdom of Fontasia and surrounding areas.

Originally a group of small tribes who constantly warred for years, they were confederated under one banner by Conor I, (who would become the modern King of Fontasia) in 2013.

From their unification in 2013, the Fontasian nation has been the primary unifying state in Assemblia, ruling the region for nearly half a decade until the eventual retreat of their leadership back to their respective homeland.

Fontasians have always been characterized as avid explorers, warriors and colonizers, two qualities that helped the expansion of Assemblian civilization across New England. Once at numbers nearing 50 people, they now have shrunk and intermixed with other cultures in colonized regions.

Fontasian culture has influenced many other regions in New England and abroad, and a Fontasian diaspora remains present most notably in the Buddie Union. The Fontasians are characterized as being extremely defiant against foreign influence and have immense pride in their nation. These feelings date back to the tribal period and the 2015 Revolution. They see themselves as self-reliant and independent peoples that cannot be easily persuaded or conquered. This fervorous insubordination to foreign power has made them well known in the intermicronational community for being brash and even uncultured. They can even come across as ethnocentric or "micro-xenophobic."

Etymology

The name of the Fontasian people comes from "Fontasia" which in turn derives from Font and Tase, two rivers who were thought to be separate in the tribal period of Fontasia. Font is a direct cognate of the name of the Font River, which starts at the confluence of the Kalkaya and Tarcellian Rivers in Tarcellia. Tase is the name of the small river that flows through modern Fontum. After the 2015 expedition into the Corrigith Forest and further expeditions conducted by the Corrigith Expedition, it was discovered that the Font and Tase were tributaries of the same water source, hence creating the hydronym Fontase. Fontase evolved into Fontas which was the original name of the modern capital city of Fontasia, Fontum. Fontas as expected turned into Fontasia, and the name of "Fontasia" became the main term describing the region of Fontum and the surrounding areas by 2017. The original name of the region was Tasia, and the people living within the Avalon Valley were known as "Tasians."

History

Fontasian Tribes (~2004-2012)

Regions inhabited by ethnic Fontasians in 2023, as well as areas influenced by Fontasians.

Originally inhabiting the areas around Fontum, Kingdom of Fontasia, whom they take their name from, the Fontasian people were divided among tribal warlord states who were constantly fighting each other. Two major groups who were the direct predecessors of the modern Fontasians were the Rennite and Jaxite tribes, small groups of children at that point who controlled vast swaths of land in the Corrigith Forest. The Rennite tribe, with its capital at Rennograd tried to keep relations peaceful with the Jaxites. However, the Jaxite nature of pillaging forts and population centers strictly prohibited peace.

In the mid to late 2000s, a massive conflict broke out between the two tribes, known as the Corrigithian War by modern historians. The conflict was forest-wide, and could have lasted multiple years. Key evidence of the conflict was exemplified with the discoveries of an Airsoft mas and a discarded Airsoft rifle.

Towards 2010 and 2011, the two tribes were significantly weakened and slowly began to deteriorate. The Rennite leader, King Andrew I gave his title to his younger sister, and the Jaxite leader, Chief Owen mysteriously disappeared. The Jaxites eventually would disappear and become dormant as a result. Around this time, Wobanian explorers on the opposite side of the Corrigith Forest would begin exploring the Kartla Isthmus and the Tarcellian River Valley. They would not be contacted by Fontasians until late 2020. In late 2011, the much older Rennite Queen taught Conor Newman, the future king and unifier of Fontasia about Rennite history, most notably explaining the Legend of the Corrigithian Fields.

During this time, there was a significant Rennite colony on Cod (known by Assemblians as Massadoria). Known as Namskaket, it was frequently visited by Conor Newman's family. The colony would be the direct inspiration for Assemblian colonization.

In October 2012, Conor Newman, and a band of younger Rennites enlightened by its history decided to sack Rennograd as an attempt to assert themselves as the new leaders of the Rennite tribe. The Queen, knowing she would be overthrown by her young apprentice conceded the throne to Newman, allowing for him to be named King Conor I of the Rennite tribe. This would mark the beginning of the steps towards Fontasian unification.

Unification of the Fontasian Tribes (2013-2014)

In early 2013, the Rennites conquered the old Jaxite territory, asserting themselves as the dominant Fontasian power. On 13 May 2013, by demands of the King, the Rennite Tribe reformed itself into the Fontasian Republic. This event effectively unified the Fontasian people into its own nation, with most Fontasians seeing it as the beginning of their civilization and the process of Fontasian dominance in Assemblia.

Soon after, the young Fontasian nation would begin a war with the present Assemblia superpower, the Amstrian Empire in a year long war. During this period, Fontasia expanded into the regions of Bahovia, Frasia, the Orkar Corridor and the Zippid Valley, all surrounding areas of the Fontasian Republic in Assemblia.

The old Rennite colony in Massadoria was inherited by the Fontasians, naming it Fontasian Namskaket. By summer 2013 however the colony was abandoned, and a new colony was planned to be created along the coast of Lewis Bay in south-central Massadoria. The Fontasians arrived in the region in August 2013, negotiating with the local native tribes to gain lands. One tribe, the Davosians were the most willing and friendly to the Fontasians, and allowed them to share their lands. In mid-August 2013, Fontasian Lewisia was established, with the capital of Lewisport officially being founded.

Into 2014, the Fontasian Republic severely weakened the Amstrians, gaining swaths of land now administered by the modern Kingdom of Fontasia. By summer 2014, Fontasian culture dominated the Lewisian region, and the Davosians agreed to establish their own territory north of Fontasian claims to not be further subjugated. Other peoples in the region, colonial possessions of the Rentamians and Petrinians began to build relations with the Fontasians, slowly adjusting to the new superpower in the area.

Fontasian claims in Lewisia extended from modern Imperial Beach to Dilu Island. It was around this time when Fontasians first explored Dilu Island as well.

In November 2014, the Amstrian Empire was defeated by Fontasia and her new liberated allies. A few weeks after, Fontasia would make a diarchy with Sandrania, forming the United Kingdoms of Sandrania-Fontasia.

The United Kingdoms Period and the Fontasian Revolution (2014-2015)

In winter 2015, the relationship between Fontasia and Sandrania was extremely cooperative. It wasn't until February when the issues of the political union began to show. The Sandranian King's (who ruled equally with the King of Fontasia, Conor I) advisor resigned from his position which severely angered him. The advisor was a Fontasian, and he believed it was an instigation by the Fontasian people to separate from Sandrania. This began a chain of events that would change Assemblian history forever.

The Sandranian king imposed heavy restrictions on the Fontasians shortly after, notably prohibiting entry into Corrigith Forest. However, Fontasians began resisting the King's consolidation of control.

In March 2015, a group of explorers from Tarcellia crossed the Corrigith Forest and arrived in Fontum to show the King Conor of the wonders of the Corrigith Forest. The explorers brought the Fontasian King across the Corrigith Valley and down the Tarcellian River, and they arrived at the Font River. This adventure was the practical beginning of the Corrigith Expedition and Fontasian nationalism itself, as Fontasians not longer after believed they had the right to colonize the forest.

By spring 2015, the Fontasian rebellion was planned that would topple the king's rule, similar to the overthrow of the Rennites and Amstrians. Originally, there were two groups of Fontasian rebels, the Dollenic movement, a far more radical group that wanted the effective dissolution of Sandrania as a region entirely and the exile of the Sandranian King; and the Free Fontasia movement, the less radical group who wanted to remove the Sandranian King from power and replace him with Conor I. The Dollenic rebels eventually fought alongside with the Free Fontasia movement, and a combined revolution was prepared. The Fontasian Revolution began on 13 May 2015, where Fontasian revolutionaries retook control of their country, deposing the King of Sandrania on 25 May in the small town of Zippid, where he was confronted by the current King Conor I. The King was exiled back into Sandrania, and devising of a modern and independent Fontasian state began almost immediately.

In the hours after the end of the Revolution, the Congress of Zippid was convened between the members of the Dollenic and Free Fontasia movement to decide which would control the new provisional regime. After large arguments and voting, the Free Fontasia movement won, therefore establishing the first modern Fontasian state.

The Fontasian rebellion would begin to devolve into groups of mercenaries known as "Assembles." The armies conquered what land was available in the southern regions, before taking the weakened Amstria and expanding northward, sparing Hastonia. This was the Fontasian conquest of Assemblia. During the middle of the summer, a non-Fontasian tribe that recently emerged near Fontum known as the Ritunds sacked the capital. Fontasian forces drove them into submission. On 25 August 2015, the First Assemblic Empire was declared after the dissolution of the Fontasian Provisional Government alongside the Tigerian Confederation, led by the Tigerians, a relatively new people who helped the Fontasian rebels conquer the Sandranians. The two nations became allies. The consolidation of Fontasian control over Assemblia would last nearly half a decade.

Early Fontasian Assemblia (2016-2017)

During the period after the Assemblian Unification, Fontasia saw themselves as Assemblians rather than Fontasians. This led to a short downfall in Fontasian national spirit, but by summer 2016, nationalism was revived. In June 2016, the First Assemblic Empire deteriorated and collapsed, leading to a short warlord era in late June and July. The Fontasians, who were once again divided started to recollect themselves and rebuild their nationalism. At Fort Soroba, in Fontum on 28 July 2016, Fontasian militants besieged the fortress is what is known as the Poolhouse Skirmish, and declared the Fontasian Empire. The Fontasian Empire in the days after would reconquer all of Fontasia under its authority and reclaim all previously held Assemblian lands.

By August, the Empire was renamed to the Second Assemblic Empire, and in September a reform in the territorial map of Empire occurred, for the first time in history "Fontasia" was labeled. The Poolhouse Skirmish as well as some other events such as the failed Fontasian communist uprising lead to intense nationalist fervor in Fontasia.

That October, the discovery of the old Amstrian War-era fort in previously Jaxite lands lead to the establishment of the Corrigith Expedition and the start of the Fontasian colonization of the Corrigith Forest. Remnants of the old Jaxite tribes, now named the Hexans reappeared in the region as well, remaining on good relations with the Corrigith Expedition. The ridge above the Avalon Valley was fortified in a defensive wall known as the Appleseed Line.

Fort Basepoint became a well-defended and visited fortress of strategic importance to the Fontasians, as it protected the trade route between the Avalon Valley and the Thornlands, an area of Fontasian settlement in the region known as Kalkaya. However, the Fontasians began using Hexan tools and supplies for their construction efforts, most notably an iron shovel head and a pocket knife. The iron shovel head lead to a periodic "Iron Age" for the Fontasian colonizers, but the shovel eventually dulled and became lost.

In early 2017, major plans to make Basepoint the Fontasian capital fort were underway, with ammunition stores being dug into the frozen winter soil and junk materials left in the area used to better fortify the fort. The Hexans became far more disturbed by the Fontasian presence in the area, and saw Basepoint as a symbol of lost glory and imperialism.

In early February, the Hexans attacked Fort Basepoint with advanced Jaxite weaponry the Fontasians had no match to, and successfully took the fort. The Hexan justification for the attack was that a discarded Christmas tree taken by Fontasians to act as a barricade was actually theirs.

The attack on Basepoint was start of the First Hexan War, which only lasted a few days when Assemblian military forces finally retook control of the region, causing the Hexans into a periodic dormancy.

Early spring 2017 was a period of expansion of Fontasian customs and values to their colonies and the rest of Assemblia. The small colony in the north, known as Wamesia was brought Fontasian culture, as well as the North Coast colonies of Salicium and Rye. Fontasian ideals were taken to Mappal too, and even a shortly inhabited colony in Florida known as Conoria. The conflict between present Assemblian nationalism and Fontasian nationalism was one of the roots for the First Assemblic Civil War, where many battles were waged in Fontum and the metropolitan areas.

Fort Soroba and Fontum Proper were among the most heavily attacked regions during the conflict, as well as Lewisport. The Conorian Palace was besieged by revolutionaries as well as Fort Soroba. With much surprise, no battles were fought in the Corrigith Forest.

On 10 July 2017, Assemblian republican forces surrendered to Conor I at Fort Soroba, ending the civil war.

Hexan Wars (2017-2018)

Fontasia slowly began to rebuild after the civil war. Intensified campaigns to assimilate the native Lewisians into Fontasian culture took place, in which the natives embraced. By late summer 2017, Lewisia was fully integrated as a dominantly Fontasian region.

A new major fort was established next to the Conorian Palace to control the trade routes in the Avalon Valley, known as Fort Avalon. This fort was stocked with weaponry in case a Hexan return would occur, and the pocket knife stolen from the Hexans was hidden there.

Into early fall, the Hexans emerged from their dormancy. A group of Hastonians migrated to Fontasia and integrated themselves among the Hexans. The old Hexans and the new Hexans began to begin a lumber industry in the lower Avalon Valley, raising concerns among Fontasians. The Hexans frequently crossed through Fort Avalon and the Avalon Valley, and the Fontasians feared the Palace and the Fort could be attacked if the Hexans decided they wanted vengeance.

It was noticed soon after that the old Hexan leader, Jacky had without warning moved out of the area, ending his and his family's legacy as the original Jaxite tribe.

The Assemblian military began to crack down on the illegal Hexan loggers in the area in late September, resulting in an attack on Revolutionary Square by the loggers causing the Second Hexan War to begin.

The loggers attack was repelled by Assemblian forces, but frequent attacks occurred on the square into October. Hexan forces at one point constructed a hastily built "treehouse" for the Assemblic Emperor, in which he climbed and injured his knee by a nail cutting into it. The Treehouse Incident was the event that infuriated the Fontasian people even more.

More attacks on Fontum by the Hexans lead to stalemates and the war was on a standstill. The Hexans attempted to change the tide of the conflict by staging a direct attack on the Conorian Palace on 31 October 2017. Hexans stormed the Assemblian Imperial Armory and nearly urged Emperor Conor out of his own house. The Hexans however allowed him back inside and agreed to a truce for three months. The Hexan commander could have easily negotiated for himself to become Assemblic Emperor, however this never happened.

The late fall was a period of intense military training in preparation for another storming of the Palace if the Hexans wanted to attack once more. The Corrigith Expedition started to survey the western parts of the Corrigith Valley to find a spot for a fort in the area, but to no avail.

In the winter months, few things occurred regarding the Fontasian people, other than growing hatred for the Hexans. In March the truce ended, but no fighting occurred between the Fontasians and Hexans in the early days of the month, due to the intense snowstorms that almost every week came through. On 18 March however, the most critical battle of the Hexan Wars occurred, known as the Battle of the Blizzard.

18 March was during one of the more intense snowstorms to happen March 2018, in which Fontum's electric power was cut off due to the horrific weather. This led to Fontasians and Hexans to leave their homes and go outside. The Assemblian army began constructing a snow fort along the snowbanks surrounding Revolutionary Square to act as a temporary base in case the Hexans did attack. Around noontime, Hexan soldiers were found advancing up the hill on the main road in Fontum.

Emperor Conor, along with his troops lead the legendary charge down from Revolutionary Square into the oncoming troops and a massive fight broke out next to the Conorian Palace. In the ensuing hours, Hexan forces and Assemblian forces waged winter warfare in the capital which by 3:00 PM EST, the Hexan army surrendered, permanently ending the existence of the Jaxite-Hexan tribes and securing Fontasian hegemony in western Fontasia.

Middle Fontasian Assemblia (2018-2019)

Fontasia rebounded fast from the Hexan Wars. In the Second Assemblian Civil War, where virtually no combat happened in Fontasia, legions of Fontasian soldiers fought on the frontlines in Northania and Sandrania.

The discovery of the existence of the Empire of the Fleetwoods in June 2018 lead to more Fontasian solidarity, as the threat of a foreign power taking control of Fontasia became apparent, but never happened.

Lewisia during the summer became "Second Fontasia" as Fontasian culture flourished in the region even more. Lewisian Fontasian culture also was imported into mainland Fontasian culture as well due to the cultural exchange created by the prospering Third Assemblic Empire, which was also lead by a Fontasian government.

A controversy occurred in the fall, as a failed attempt to unify Fontasia and the neighboring province of Frasia occurred. Its aftermath indirectly lead to the fall of the Third Empire. During the short period of the Panemian government, Fontasian explorers rediscovered the Tarcellian Valley after three years.

The Assemblic Revolution was supported by Fontasian rebels, who joined the fight after liberating Fontum from the Flanovian forces. The revolution was later taken over by the Fontasians, who returned Conor to his position as Emperor of All Assemblias.

During the first days of the Fourth Assemblic Empire, the Corrigith Expedition was officially chartered by the Imperial Government, further helping the Fontasian colonization in the Corrigith Forest. Many Fontasian forts were established as a result in the Corrigith Valley and areas near Fort Basepoint. Further exploration of the Tarcellian Valley happened as well.

Tarcellian River.

In early 2019, two large boulders known as the Monoliths were discovered, as well as a trail connecting Fort Basepoint and the Corrigith Valley. The first circumnavigation of the Corrigith Forest also happened, when explorers hiked from Revolutionary Square, across the Corrigith Valley, through the Tarcellian Valley, into the Kalkayan Swamp and back to Fort Basepoint. However this progress halted when the Fall of '19 occurred, ending the program.

Fall of '19 in Fontasia (2019-2020)

The collapse of the Fourth Assemblic Empire was a major downfall for the Fontasian nation. It marked the end of Fontasian hegemony in the region and England in general. The immediate weeks after the collapse, Fontasians struggled to comprehend the collapse of such a prosperous and stable country. In mid March, the Empire of the Fleetwoods claimed the area of Fontasia, and established an autonomous zone for the Fontasians known as the Indigo Line.

The Indigo Line did not last long however, as turmoil in the Fleetwoods erupted, and Conor attempted to establish the Corrigithian Empire as a Fontasian nation state, however the attempts never succeeded. The final attempt of reforming Fontasia was the creation of the Phalanx Forces, a military force modeled after the original Assembles of Fontasia, which would act as an elite military group for the Fleetwoods. This failed as well.

In April, Conor met with the leader of the now much larger Tiger Confederation in hopes of establishing an Assemblian Triumvirate which the Fleetwoods, Tigeria and Assemblia would be equal kingdoms. The convention, known as the Cilomoro Convention lost traction in the weeks following.

During the middle months of the year, Fontasia was under the control of the Fleetwoods, and the Fontasians in Massadoria had no sense of cohesion to unite under. The mainland Fontasians were embroiled in an ethnic conflict against the Ritunds who re-emerged. The Fontasians prevailed and drove them out of the region.

On July 21, a conflict known as the Blue Revolution took place, where Fontasians staged a revolt against the Fletovian colonial administration. Fontum was blockaded by colonial forces and was forced to surrender.

Towards August, the Fletovian government became corrupt and started deteriorating, allowing the Fontasians to band together and finally relinquish themselves from colonialism. Fontasia was completely liberated by early September under the command of Conor, who in a few months would march into Amstria to declare the establishment of the Assemblic Federation.

The Fontasians once again ruled Assemblia, though the ideology of Pan-Assemblianism began to arise, as Assemblian groups believed individual nationalism only promoted separatism. Fontasia was itself a constituent Kingdom of the Federation.

Late Fontasian Assemblia (2020-2022)

Into 2020, exploration of the Corrigith Forest continued, though fortbuilding dramatically decreased. The Cavine Valley, Kalkayan Swamp and more of Tarcellia was explored. Ancient forts were found in Tarcellia as well, raising suspicions of a fort civilization that could have been years or decades old in the area. The COVID-19 pandemic never truly hit Fontasia hard until years later. In March 2020, the discovery of advanced trails in the Soroban Forest lead to a fort being established in the area, and the establishment of the Kingdom of Soroba granted by the Assemblic Emperor.

The autonomous Kingdom of Soroba did not last long however, as it was invaded in the Third Assemblic Civil War that summer. After the civil war, Fontasian influence extended from the North Coast colonies in New Hampshire all the way south to the Assemblian Himorcas in the Outer Banks of North Carolina.

In November 2020, major advancements regarding the Corrigith Forest occurred. During a survey of the Cavine Valley in the central parts of the Forest, Fontasians crossed the narrow Kartla Isthmus across the Corrigithian Swamp, never conceived as crossable until that point. Upon crossing the isthmus, a large, extremely advanced fort was discovered, equipped with a two firepits, sitting benches and a stick stockade surrounding it. Fontasians had never seen anything like it.

The surveyors left that they had found the fort in a note and a week later, the fortbuilders agreed to meet with representatives of the Corrigith Expedition to discuss who they are and their technologies. These people, deemed as the Wobanians by the Fontasians explained that they had existed for a decade in the region at that point and used various tools and resources. Situated near a small river, these people extracted clay and stones to use for tools. The Wobanians regularly camped out at the fort, even in harsh blizzards and eat foods such as Kasupanu which they cooked in bags on hot stones. The fort was known by Fontasians as Fort Woban.

The second major event was the first successful ascent of Mount Corrigith. Fontasians, only weeks after the discovery of the Wobanians hiked to the top of Mount Corrigith to discover a vast expanse of meadows which were definitely the basis of the Rennite Legend of the Fields of Corrigithia. After its discovery, a brief excursion to Atvan Pond was made and the Fontasians moved north along the Corrigith River and across the Corrigithian Swamp to Fort Woban.

A firepit was consequentially built at Fort Basepoint, inspired by the Wobanian architecture and technology.

These new discoveries revived Fontasian nationalism and forest exploration. In 2021, more forts were discovered along the Font River in Tarcellia belonging to another unknown group. No attempts were made to contact them. It was also found Wobanians were using advanced pneumatic air-powered weaponry as well. In the early spring, Fort Woban was transferred to a new location closer to the Kartla Isthmus and the fort was renamed to Fort Kartla.

The Corrigith Expedition began to construct a new Wobanian-inspired fort known as Fort Echelon in March 2021, the most advanced Fontasian fort ever constructed. Only a month later, American conservationists came to the area and demanded for it to be destroyed, in which the Fontasians complied. The destruction of the Fort was a massive blow to Fontasian nationalism and the Corrigith Expedition.

The Fontasians in May had a campaign to remove Tarcellian influence from spilling over into other parts of the forest known as the Tarcellian Conflict, or Daprazi War. No real engagements occurred except the Fontasian invasion of the region.

In summer 2021, Fort Basepoint was discovered completely demolished in what was believed to be an American attack. This led to the Corrigith Expedition to be terminated completely, ending years of Fontasian progress and colonization in the Corrigith Forest.

Fort Kartla, 2021.

Fontasian nationalism reached an all-time low at that point, as Pan-Assemblianism prevailed during the beginning months of the Second Assemblic Federation. However, in late Fall 2021, a fort was constructed along the Corrigith Swamp to act as the provisional fort capital of the area known as Fort Lechy. An unknown fort was discovered on the west bank of the Tarcellian River known as Fort Lonepine. Believed to be of Tarcellian origin, Assemblian troops quickly disassembled the fort to help further construct Fort Lechy.

Destroyed Fort Lonepine.

Revival of the Fontasian nation-state (2022-)

2022 marked a major reinstitution of Fontasian values and nationhood. The slowly deteriorating Second Assemblic Federation, pressured by foreign influence and unrest collapsed in early February 2022, beginning the Fall of '22 which was extremely beneficial for Fontasia. Fontasians invaded the Corrigith Forest and Wobania without any resistance and swiftly took Fort Kartla. In mid-February, Fontasians and Millisians agreed to integrate with each other and combine themselves. On 1 March 2022, three years after the fall of the Fourth Assemblic Empire, the Edict of Mauloburg was signed, establishing the Kingdom of Fontasia, the first totally Fontasian nation-state to exit in half a decade. The Corrigith Expedition was quickly re-established and exploration in the forest restarted. Fontasian patriotism returned to the area, although post-colonial depression plagued some government institutions, as some believed that Fontasia would be last nation to exist in the "dying" Assemblian civilization.

In late March, the Atvan Forest was circumnavigated, opening a new frontier to Fontasian colonizers. The wars against Zeprana further spread nationalist fervor, as Fontasia proved it could defend itself during the 2022 Expedition to Dilu Island in late April.

Presently, Fontasia and the Fontasian people see themselves as regaining its power and influence both politically and culturally, having their first elections on 25 May 2022.

Galwegian Connection

Some of the Fontasian people, more precisely the ruling house of Fontasia are descended from people who lived in County Galway, Ireland and Connemara also in Ireland. This connection has proven that the Fontasian people are Galwegians. This connection has greatly closened ties between the Kingdom of Fontasia and Galway Sector micronations due to their shared heritage. Some Fontasians even claim that being descended from people from Connemara, a modern Roscami province, that the Fontasian people are de facto Roscami.

Fontasian Culture

The Fontasian people have a unique culture. Mostly influenced by Anglo-American traditional values, as Fontasia resides within a majority English-speaking region. There are some exceptions that variate Fontasian traditions from American culture.

The Corrigith Forest and nature in general has made the Fontasians prefer to embrace the natural environment rather than artificial modern environments.

The once militant aspect of Fontasian culture is slowly becoming far less prevalent, as Fontasian dominance in their territory has been unquestioned for many years now. The process of becoming more peaceful and accepting of neighboring cultures is slowly happening.

Fontasians inhabiting Lewisia have a slightly different culture, due to their proximity to the coast.

Apart of the Assemblian language family, an extended branch of the Indo-European languages, it currently only has one speaker as it is still being developed.

Although most Fontasians speak English, it is hoped that the Fontasian language will soon spread amongst the Fontasian population once thoroughly developed.

The Fontasian Cyrillic Alphabet has also been created, to variate the language from the mostly mainstream Latin Alphabet. The Fontasian language is considered as "Middle Assemblian" as its only linguistic relative in the Assemblian language, which began its construction during the latter half of the Second Assemblic Federation.

Although it is an official language, Fontasian is only used poetically in cultural scriptures and stories. The standard communicative language is English, which is used in government documents as well.

Fontasian Foods

Fontasian cuisine is inspired by many other cultures most notably American, Mexican, Italian and English cuisines. Exported across New England during the Assemblic colonial period, Fontasian cuisine is prominent in previously held Assemblian lands.

Fontasian Queso

Queso Dip, originally of Mexican creation has been adapted by the Fontasian people and has became a staple appetizer at Fontasian parties. Consisting of queso blanco cheese and a medley of chopped peppers and tomatoes. It is eaten with tortilla chips as well. Wamesian Wings, first made in Assemblian Wamesia, now modern Dobrok have been imported into the Fontasian cuisine, becoming the common pair with Fontasian Queso. The wings are coated in various spices and soy sauce, then fried in Coca-Cola and butter mixture. After cooked, the wings are of a deep reddish-brown color and have a smokey yet sweet flavor.

Fontasian traditional foods include Kaysupanu (literally "cheesebread" in the Fontasian language), which was eaten by the original Fontasian tribes inhabiting the Corrigith Forest area. Cooked on open firepits, Kayçupanu consists of two flatbreads filled with cheese on the inside. Kayçupanu is a staple food among the Wobanians who cook it in bags above the firepits.

Other foods, such as meatballs are extremely popular in Fontasia as well. Fontasian meatballs are directly based on Italian meatballs, with them being cooked in a tomato sauce and served with pasta, however the individual meatballs are filled with a mixture of spices and small chunks of milk-soaked bread. The texture and flavor are enhanced by the bread, acting as a sort of meatball "stuffing."

Lewisian Fontasian cuisine consists mostly of seafood, notably fried seafood. A staple likened by mainland Fontasians is Clam Chowder, which is widely available throughout New England.

Fontasian crops include various herbs and spices, potatoes, pears and even wild blueberries. A previously harvested crop was milkweed, a plant that obtains a sticky white liquid inside of it. Fontasians harvested the crop for ceremonial purposes for many years.

Another crop commonly harvested for ceremonial purposes was Yavga sticks, the dried dead stalks of a certain type of flower harvested and bundled in the late summer. These sticks were considered holy by the early Fontasians. Yavga sticks were used in late summer celebrations and burned in firepits or they were used to make firesticks. Firestick burnings were rituals where the yavga stick's wet bottom side is lit on fire, creating a plume of smoke out of the other end through its hollow structure.

Fontasian Crafts

Fontasian cultural crafts have been present even since the tribal period, architectural styles such as the now destroyed Rennograd Fortress were present across Fontasia. It wasn't until 2017 when cultural crafts became documented. During this time, Hexan blacksmiths used scrap metals to make tools and weapons such as hatchets and bows. Some of this technology was taken by the Fontasians, but was never replicated to the extent of Hexan craftsmanship.

Simple Fontasian crafts existed, such as bows, spears and walking sticks. Fontasian architecture included the classic tipi-style forts, where fortbuilders collected sticks from trees and lined them around trees. The other Fontasian fortbuilding strategy, known as the Basepoint style, was to find downed trees and lay sticks on the trunk to make a longhouse-style fort.

A modern Fontasian craft is the Chefarra or "Chiefstick." Chefarras acted as a symbol of authority by the Rennite chieftains and could act as a both weapons and hiking staffs. The Chefarra was a kind of Fontasian shillelagh. A War Chefarra is a Chefarra with a sharpened end, to act as a spear.

Several attempts to extract pine sap from the plentiful amounts of pine trees in the Corrigith Forest have occurred, with little luck. An important plant that is abundant in the forest is the groundpine, a short pine-like plant that is used as decorations for forts. The plant is planned to be utilized for harvesting powder, a hydrophobic and highly flammable substance that could be used for potential flamethrowers or incendiary devices.
Junk materials found in the forest by previous explorers or peoples are prized by the Fontasians. Materials such as house shingles, wooden planks, bottles and scrap metal are all used as parts of forts. Fort Basepoint became prosperous with junk materials as it lie between the Owenopolis Ruins and the Crash Site, two areas with extensive amounts of artifacts and junk.

Fontasian Music and Folklore

Although various attempts have been made to created homemade instruments, the Fontasian people have yet to invent their own instruments or music.

Fontasians have some folklore, most being legends of the Rennites and the Hexan Wars, but the most important of them is the Legend of the Corrigithian Fields, the founding myth of Fontasia that describes the journey of the Rennite queen to the summit of Mount Corrigith, where she is given a mythical white stone and a prophecy on the rise of Conor I. She hides the stone in the deep Atvan Forest and journeys back to Rennograd.

The myth was adapted to an actual story that the Rennite queen told young Conor, about a field with a large pine tree in the center of it, an accurate description of the summit of Mount Corrigith. However, the Fontasians misinterpreted the story and believed that the field was just outside of Fontum, in what would be the Corrigith Swamp, not on the summit of Mount Corrigith.

The Corrigith Valley, was as a result named for the fields, due to the Fontasian misconception.

Another important story that was actually true was The Conquest of Tarcellia, the brave expedition Conor took across the Corrigith Forest that discovered the Tarcellian Valley and the Corrigith Valley in 2015. The story tells of how the Tarcellian explorers found Fontum by crossing the trails of the forest, brought Conor along with them into the forest and ventured across the forest into Tarcellia.

The story was the direct inspiration for the Corrigith Expedition and began the Fontasian colonization of the Corrigith Forest, which further caused Fontasian nationalism to erupt.

A third national epic of Fontasia is the War of the Great Kings a recount of the Hexan Wars of 2017-18 that dramatizes the attacks of Fort Basepoint and Fontum. The epic has been a basis for Fontasian ethnic nationalism and defense of a self-sufficient and independent nation-state. Its plot has been used also metaphorically to describe major wars that threatened Fontasian security and national safety, such as in modern times the Almendrian Raids and the Dilu War, and in older ways the Fletovian Crisis of 2018.

Fontasian Beliefs and Holidays

Although most Fontasians adhere to a religious faith, either a form of Christianity, Judaism or Hinduism, there were some pagan elements in early Fontasian culture. The rituals of spring and summer and the sanctification of forts with yavga bundles are two notable activities.

Mount Corrigith is considered as a holy place for the Fontasians, as it is the highest point in the region and vast expanses of land can be seen for miles. Another holy spot is the Moon Stone, a boulder in the middle of the circle of Revolutionary Square. Rennites used to use the charcoal from the firepit on the circle to write their names on the rock, and believed it had mystical powers.

Fontasians celebrate respective religious holidays, such as Christmas, Hanukkah or Diwali. The other major festivities are of Fontasian origin, such as Formation Day, Revolution Day, Fontasia Week and Silvalia.

The final night of Fontasia Week and Silvalia are the two most important Fontasian holidays, as they consist of burning fire and yavga/firestick sanctification. Silvalia, literally "festival of the forest" takes place in late November, where Fontasians take a celebratory walk around the forest to begin another season of forest exploration.

Since late 2022, the Fontasian people have became far more Christian, as Roman Catholicism was adopted as the state religion of the Kingdom of Fontasia, however Fontasia still believed in high religious toleration.
