The Governor of the Irish Cape was the head of state and government within the Province of the Irish Cape. The Governor was appointed by the national Government and served at the pleasure of the President. The Governorship was created following abolition of the triumvirate, also known as the Northern Council, made up of the Presidency of the Council, Chancellor and the Attorney General. The Governor was made head of administration, while the Chancellor was kept as head of government.
On 27 April 2022, the Chancellor was abolished, with the Governor made head of state and government. In the federalisation of Roscamistan in June 2023, the Irish Cape was abolished as a province, and as a result the Governorship was abolished with it.
