Fleet Admiral (abbreviated FADM) is the five-star flag officer and highest rank in the United Federation Navy. Fleet admirals rank immediately above admirals and is equivalent to General of the Army and General of the Air Force.
Usage
The rank of fleet admiral at present has never been awarded. The rank of fleet admiral is still maintained as a rank of the UF Navy, and could be awarded, pending approval of the United Federation Senate. However, the President, with consent from the Senate, may award a fifth star at any time they see fit.
Insignia
The rank of fleet admiral has a couple of insignia attached to it. The sleep insignia of the rank consists of a single star above four thin gold bands sitting above a thick gold band. The collar insignia consists of five stars placed in a pentagon shape. The shoulder insignia consists of a shoulder board with an anchor sat above five-stars in the same shape as the collar insignia.
Ranks Senior
While the navy does not directly maintain a rank senior to fleet admirals, the rank of General of the Armies is the only recognised United Federation military rank recognised senior to fleet admiral.
