The Executive Office of the President (EOP) comprises of the offices and agencies supporting the President of Aumarea in their role as centre of the executive branch of the Federal Government of Aumarea. The EOP consists of several offices and agencies and is headquartered at the Presidential Palace.
The civil servants who work in the Executive Office of the President are also regarded as nonpartisan and politically neutral, so that they can give impartial advice. They also do not require senatorial approval for office like other federal officers.
The civil servant who oversees the EOP is the Presidential Chief of Staff, who is appointed directly by the president.
History
The EOP was formally established on 12 March 2023, after the constitution's ratification. It succeeded the Office of the Continental President.
Organisation
The chief of staff is the non-political head of the Executive Office and can therefore ultimately decide what the president needs to deal with personally and what can be dealt with by other staff, in order to avoid wasting the time of the president.
Senior staff within the Executive Office of the President have the title Assistant to the President, second-level staff have the title Deputy Assistant to the President, and third-level staff have the title Special Assistant to the President.
Unlike cabinet appointments, appointees to the EOP aren't subject to senate confirmation.
Offices
Offices making up the EOP include:
- Office of Cabinet Affairs
- Office of Intergovernmental Affairs
- Office of Legislative Affairs
- Office of Political Affairs
- Office of Public Engagement
- Office of the Chief of Staff
- Office of the First Lady
Congress
Congress also has some power over the EOP, however due to separation of powers the congress only has limited budgetary powers over the office.
