Easwegian Authoritarian Period
A state of emergency was declared within the Mainland Realm of Easway between June and November 2020 in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic and terror operations of the anti-Easwegian group Kingdom - 1925. The 8 June Sixth Amendment to the recently ratified Directorial Federation Constitution of Easway outlawed all political parties, turning the island micronation into a non-partisan system. This included the Mutualist Ouroboros Party which most founding members were part of, and was done to combat toxic politicisation that had arisen, funded by foreign powers. The Easwegian Authoritarian Period is categorised by rules by decree, the fusion of Government and National Electoral Commission responsibilities, and the reinstating of the position of Grand Marshal.
Initially supporting the measures, then chief of government Regent Marquis Csyeigo resigned in July and was succeeded by Samme vi Ezerrye, a close ally of then chief of state Chief Councillor Emizerri. Emizerri had survived an assassination attempt in April by K-25 and this was used as the casus belli for the following crackdowns by Easway's then intelligence service, the CCEA. Then health director Squ Bai was elected as the first Marquis of Hopen on 26 June 2020 to administer the recently incorporated island, which experienced relative peace compared to Bear Island.
Then Marquis of Essrina Metallityöt was appointed in the revived position of Grand Marshal of the Easwegian National Guard in October 2020 and, alongside the espionage operations of the CCEA, crushed Kingdom - 1925, which went into a long period of hiding. Metalli then allied with then Spokesperson of the NEC and Marquis of Urdport Neicou to form the Partisans' Movement. The Partisans' Movement successfully authored and passed the 25 November Tenth Amendment, which restored political party legality and added that all constitutional amendments were to be passed by public approval. This action marked the end of the state of emergency and the Authoritarian Period.
To secure the territorial integrity of Easway, an incorporation of Kong Karls Land (now called the Common Sailors National Park) was initiated on 31 December 2020, with the renaming of the Mainland Realm to simply the Realm of Easway on 1 January 2021. The newly formed Realm of Easway also saw Metalli organise the creation of the Common Security Force to replace the CCEA.
