The Commander-in-Chief is the title given to the President of the Frondesian Federation in their capacity as supreme commander of the Armed Forces of Frondesia. The role is given to the president by the Frondesian constitution.
The incumbent President, and therefore commander-in-chief, is Oswald Hastings.
History
While the armed forces weren't established until 26 August 2023, the role of commander-in-chief was established on 25 August 2023 by the constitution and was granted to the presidency.
Duties
The duties of the president as commander-in-chief include:
- Chairing the Security Council,
- Appointing Senior Military Staff including the Chief of the Defence Staff,
- Directing, Controlling and Governing the Armed Forces,
- Declaring War and Making Peace,
- Commissioning Armed Forces Officers,
- Granting Military Honours,
Appointment
The commander-in-chief, as a role belonging exclusively to the president of Frondesia, is appointed by election to the presidency by direct election.
