The Centrist Unity Party (CUP) (Chinese: 瓦民国团结党) is a political party in the Republic of Valkerion. It was founded by Harlan. It is currently a member of the Centrist Unity party-Social Party Coalition due to the aftermath of the 2024 Valkerian Presidential Election.

Ideology

This party believes in the idea that we shouldn't let any sort of ideological or political bias prevent us from choosing who is best for our nation. It also believes that sometimes, going into a certain quadrant of the political spectrum might be needed for the benefit of our nation. However, this party believes that we shouldn't delve to much into a political direction, lest we risk the unity of our nation. Instead, it believes that we must have a willingness to change political directions at any time.

History

The Centrist Unity Party was the first political party to be formed, formed by the founder of the nation, Harlan Guh. The first logo of the party was adopted in January of 2024, and it contained the Valkerian falcon, the de facto logo of the nation. The logo also contained the grill and spatula, symbols of centrism, which represented the unwillingness of the party to cling to a specific quadrant of the political spectrum. At first, the CUP was in competition with the other newly formed political parties.

This would come to a head with the 2024 Valkerian Presidential Election, where the Social Party and the CUP would unite in a coalition, taking in the victory. Afterwards the two parties would become the dominate parties of the nation, as the only other party, the Restoration Party, would fall out of relevancy.

In March of 2024, a new logo would be implemented. This one was more simple, with a green flag and green text underneath. The text would be in both English and Mandarin, as they were the two official languages. On April sixth, the Dik-dik was announced as the official animal of the CUP. After the 1st Valkerian Citizen Council elections, one of the newly elected councilors, Richard Nie would join the Centrist Unity Party.

The Centrist Unity Party advocates for a firm presence in micronational affairs. It believes that by communicating with other nations, Valkerion can increase its influence.
