The Armed Forces of Tanaau are the military forces responsible for the defence of the Kingdom of Tanaau. They also represent and defend Tanaauan interests abroad.

The monarch serves as commander-in-chief of the armed forces, with the prime minister and secretary of state for defence acting as key advisors to the sovereign in their commanding of the armed forces.

History

The Tanaauan military was established on 17 November 2023, but were disregarded a little bit with focuses at the time being on the creation of government. After the government's assembly, the armed forces' development became a bigger focus with aspects of the armed forces being set up between 18 November 2023 and 4 December 2023.

Command Organisation

The Monarch of Tanaau, currently King Colin I, is commander-in-chief and head of the armed forces, with all officers and personnel bearing allegiance to the monarch. The prime minister and secretary of state for defence (with the advice of the Cabinet) advise the monarch on the command of the armed forces, and sometime assume command of the armed forces on behalf of the monarch.

The Ministry of Defence is the government department charged with formulating and executing defence policy. The department is administered by the secretary of state for defence (sometimes just the defence secretary), who is aided by more junior defence ministers such as the minister of state for the armed forces.

The chief of the defence staff (CDS) is the senior-most officer of the armed forces and is an appointment that can be held by an officer from any branch. They are the professional head of the armed forces of Tanaau and are appointed by the monarch.

Branches

Royal Tanaauan Marines

The Royal Tanaauan Marines are the navy's elite amphibious troops. They make up the bulk of Tanaau's commando force, with recruits and officer cadets alike undertaking the commando training course.
