The Armed Forces of Doland are the military forces with responsibility for the defence of the Dolish Realm. They also represent Doland's wider interests abroad and provide humanitarian aid.
The President of Doland sits as Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces. The president directly exercises power over the armed forces, and can be advised on military matters by the Prime Minister of Doland and Realm Minister of Defence.
History
The armed forces were established on 1 July 2023, and were semi-established by the constitution.
Command Organisation
The President of Doland sits as Commander-in-Chief. All members of the armed forces acknowledge this when they swear allegiance. Authority to command the armed forces rests with the president, but both the prime minister and realm minister of defence have some influence and power over this.
The military itself is lead by the Chiefs of Staff Committee which is made up of the branch chiefs of staff and is chaired by the Chief of the Defence Staff - who is the highest ranking serving military officer. They are aided by the Vice Chief of the Defence Staff.
All military chiefs are appointed by the president.
Branches
Army
The Dolish Army is the primary land warfare and supremacy force. It works both internally in Doland and externally to defend Doland and Dolish ideals, and is also sometimes used to help enforce law and keep order within Doland.
The army is lead by the Chief of the Army Staff.
Air Force
The Dolish Air Force is the primary air defence, supremacy and warfare force. Its ranks have piggybacked off the army's and works with both army and naval aviation divisions. The air force operates military aircraft and carries out military air operations.
The air force is lead by the Chief of the Air Staff.
The Dolish Navy is the primary naval warfare force of Doland. It primarily consists of the fleet forces of the navy, commanded by the Fleet Commander, but also consists of some shore establishments which support the fleet.
The navy is lead by the Chief of the Naval Staff.
Recruitment
The armed forces recruits from within Doland and its realms and territories. All citizens over the age of 16 are eligible for recruitment - primarily enlistment. Usually the armed forces do not accept citizens to commission as officers until they are at least 17.5 years old.
