The archbishop of Veloya is the senior-most bishop and principal leader of the Church of Veloya. It is also one of the oldest religious titles in the Kingdom of Veloya. The archbishop is given the role of Primate of the Church and can also sit in the House of Lords.
The archbishopric is currently vacant.
Role
Currently the archbishop has a couple of main roles:
- Primate and Senior Figure of the Church of Veloya
- Chairs the General Synod
- Roles at State Ceremonial Events
- Ministering to the Royal Family
The archbishop may also sit as a Lord Spiritual in the House of Lords.
Appointment
The archbishop is one of the number of appointments made by the Monarch of Veloya, this is in their capacity as Supreme Governor of the Church. Often the Prime Minister nominates potential candidates for the role but the appointee is chosen at the monarch's discretion.
The archbishop serves officially at the monarch's pleasure.
Styles and Privileges
The archbishop, while in office, is given the style of "The Most Reverend" and when they leave office are given the title of "The Right Reverend". Archbishops are also sometimes admitted to the privy council, in which case can also use the style of "The Right Honourable".
