Geography
Vicolo is located in the Governatorato di Luxe, and is bordered to the west by Luxe and to the east by Sotto-Luxe. The territory is flat and is characterized by an alpine climate.
Name
The noun "Vicolo" in Italian indicates a small urban street. With urban development during the 2010s, a well-known main street has developed in the eastern area of Luxe, well differentiated from the rest of the urban network.
History
Given the acquisition of importance and the birth of various local associations, people began to refer to the street as "Vicolo". The Municipality of Luxe changed the name of the street to "Via di Vicolo" and by Municipal Decree, Vicolo became a fraction of the capital. Shortly afterwards the civil association Indipendenza Vicolina was born. In the second part of 2017, greater autonomy began to be requested with respect to the Municipality and in September the process for the creation of the Municipality of Vicolo began, guaranteeing the resolution of the requests. By decree of the Governorate of 1 January 2018, Vicolo becomes a city like Luxe. Despite its small size (Vicolo is three times smaller than the capital), urban development did not lag behind, on the contrary, it became one of the most important economic and commercial hubs of the Republic. Due to various political and social dynamics, with the governor's decree of 1 January 2019, the territory of Vicolo was returned to the city of Luxe, subject to maintaining the identity of the deposed city.
Symbols
Flag
The flag of Vicolo is blue and white checkered, representing a perfect union despite the strong differences in shades. Blue was the color initially used by the Vicolo Independence Movement, although the emblem initially took up that of the capital but with a sword on the right side. The municipality's road signs contained the municipal emblem on the left or at the top of the sign and had blue writing due to municipal enforcement.
Motto
"homo faber fortunatee suae" is a Latin phrase which means "man is the architect of his own fortune", taking up the historical phase in which the social movement of Vicolo rolled up its sleeves to invest in the area.
