Wairoa, officially the State of Wairoa is the northern most union state of the Arstotzkan Union. Wairoa is the political and administrative union of the Severyanin, Tangata Raki and Tsentral'naya Territories. It is the second largest state by size but one of the smallest by the area it encompasses.
Wairoa is the union of territories located in the New Zealand regions of Northland and Auckland and borders the states of Rangitaiki and Hōrana. The state is known for its rich geography and vast agricultural expanses. With the Severyanin and Tangata Raki Territories being the main hub of agricultural production in the state as both have very well kept industrial farms. This is in contrast to the more urban environment of the Tsentral'naya Territory, located in Auckland.
Culturally, Wairoa is the most diverse as it has a mix of Māori and New Zealand European, however it is also known as the Māori capital of the Union in part due to the large population and density of Māori in the State. Wairoa is also home to the Arstotzkan Union's only non-tertiary education institution and only Marae.
History
Wairoa was created as a state on 11 January 2023 with the passing of the Land and Territories Act 2023. It originally was called the Northern Arstotzkan State.
Several months later with Soviet Day approaching, First President Ethan Brinkman decided to rename the states with more Māori names and similar to Rangitaiki, Wairoa was named after the longest river in its region.
Government
Wairoa is administered by the State Council of Wairoa, which is located in Waikare, Tangata Raki Territory. Liam Huxley who is the territory commander of the Severyanin and Tangata Raki Territories was elected as the State Representative in January and has continued to become the Council Chairman following the recent reforms.
Military
The Tangata Raki Naval Operations Centre of the North Arstotzkan Naval Base is the local military base located in the territory. It is home to the 21st Shore Defense Squadron of the 2nd Naval Fleet of the Arstotzkan Naval Corps. The duty of the squadron is to "protect and monitor naval activities in the Waikare Inlet that may pose a national security threat to the Arstotzkan Union or New Zealand, as well as to aid in civil response and defence in the event of a natural disaster or severe weather event". Bravo Company of the 14th Civil Defense and Disaster Response Battalion of the Arstotzkan Union Reserve Force is stationed at the Northern Civil Defense Command Centre for 6 months of the year.
