The Second Republic of Worrell, more commonly known as Worrell, is a micronation located in Pennsylvania, United States. It is the successor to the First Republic of Worrell. Worrell has land claims in Pennsylvania and North Carolina.
The Second Republic of Worrell is modeled after the First Republic of Worrell, which itself is modeled after both the Republic of Texas and the United States of America in the way it represents itself and in the way it governs itself.
Etymology
The name Worrell originates from the name of the First Republic of Worrell. The First Republic of Worrell took it's name from a field near Crum Creek, which is a Creek that flows through the nation and forms part of the Worrell-American Border. It is an important creek which is symbolic of Worrell's American ancestry and influences.
History
Pre-Second Republic
The First Republic of Worrell existed years before the Second Republic of Worrell. It was established as a beacon of democracy for micronations, it eventually was dissolved due to border-related dispute issues. However, eventually, as the Republic had died, it's members began to feel nostalgic for it, similar to how they had previously with the first micronation Matthew Cunningham had established, which had been named the Principality of Runnymede, which had led to the first Republic's existence.
Second Republic's Founding
The Second Republic of Worrell was founded on 20 July 2023, as a successor to the First Republic of Worrell, which had collapsed sometime during 2022. It was founded together by the former President of Worrell Matthew Cunningham, and Nugis "Bibo" Schicken, a member of the previous Worrellian government. The Second Constitution of the Republic of Worrell was officially adopted that same month.
Taylorian Era
On 3 August 2023, the first Presidential Elections of the Second Republic were held. Multiple run-offs were held to determine the President. Grant Taylor and Charles Mevd were the final candidates in the sixth round and Taylor won by a single vote in a 6-5 race, an upset as Mevd had continuously won each prior round.
After President Taylor's election, he established multiple Supreme Court Justices. After the Supreme Court Justices were established, Taylor began to have a decline in activity. Afterwards, the nation's people also grew inactive aside from Vice President Mevd who attempted to circumvent the inactivity, to no avail.
Oversight Committee's establishment
On 17 October 2023, Vice President Mevd established the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability. It was named after the American committee of the same name. Initially, it's main goal was to determine the future of Worrell, as most citizens grew inactive. Eventually, the Oversight Committee established an inquiry to impeach President Grant Taylor. As such, Vice President Mevd ascended to the Presidency.
Mevd Era
On 18 October 2023, following the inquiry for President Taylor's impeachment, then-Vice President Mevd became interim President while the hearings of the Oversight Committee and the impeachment took place. On that day, the Oversight Committee released the Mevd-Taylor Report regarding President Taylor's inactivity in the nation. Additionally, Mevd then enacted the vote, which would take place among the House of Representatives in Worrell, to impeach President Taylor.
Law and Order
The F.D.I.I.A. handles most Law and Order in Worrell. For the first time in Worrellian history, a committee was established on 17 October 2023 named the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability, it then became the de-facto main source of law and order in the Second Republic.
Impeachment of President Taylor
The Oversight Committee determined that the best course of action was to impeach the at-the-time President Taylor on charges of treason by endangering the nation. Late on 17 October 2023, Article 2 Section 15 of the Worrellian constitution[1] was enacted for the first time in the history of Worrell. Due to the impeachment process, then-Vice President Mevd was set to exercise the duties and powers of the Presidency. On 18 October 2023, the official vote to impeach Taylor was enacted. Should he be impeached, another vote will take place to decide if he should also be removed from office officially. If he is not removed from office, then President Mevd is to step down as interim President and become Vice President once more.
Mevd-Taylor Report
On 18 October 2023, the Oversight Committee released a report titled Report on the Effects of the Inactivity of President Taylor on the Second Republic of Worrell, subtitled The Oversight Committee's findings[2]. The report outlined several effects on the nation that the inactivity of the President had, including but not limited to;
- A decline in citizenship engagement
- A decline in economic activity
- Steadying decline of national security
