The Republic of Lisseum, formerly known as the Imperial Principality of Lisseum, is a parliamentary republic operating primarily within NationStates, a popular online government simulator. It was founded as a Micrasian protectorate and feudal state of Phokland,[1] but transitioned to NationStates under the rule of a King Flaton.

History

Proto-Lisseum

Around 4 April 2019 a Lisseum region was founded on NationStates.[2] The story of Lisseum truly begins on the 28th of April, 2019 when Huțan Gabriel asked Phoklandian sovereign Charles Ross about what it takes to run a micronation. Intrigued by his response, Mr. Gabriel inquired as to if he might join the Phoklandian Feudal Program and his own principality. This request was granted and later that same day, he was declared Prince Huțan of the Imperial Principality of Lisseum[citation needed].

Kingdom

On 27 November, the Kingdom of Lisseum was founded proper on the NationStates region, later transitioning to a parliamentary republic.[3] The first and only legitimate king of Lisseum was Duras, originally Flaton. During his administration, he made attempts to have complete control of the government in accordance with the Constitution and a temporary absolute Monarchy. The people had felt that the actions of the King were unjust and voted to remove him from power. 80% of the region voted in favor of his removal, called for by Blazeville. After the King abdicated, a new Constitution was written, establishing the First Republic of Lisseum.

First Republic

Second Republic

Third Republic

The Third Republic was a short period of time where Thomasear, who later became and important figure in Lisseum, stood as the de facto dictator while Lisseum underwent a period of inactivity. This is mockingly referred to as the "fake republic" since the Constitution from the Second Republic was technical still in effect despite there being no legitimate government in place to govern Lisseum. Some time in late July, a nation by the name of Halexadria (not to be confused with "Halexandria") had taken position in government to revive the region of it's activities and function. Halexadria was quite successful, but for reasons unknown, has resigned due to a projected period of inactivity. He later came back as the nation Kor Pantaal.

Fourth Republic

The Fourth Republic was established on 15 August 2020. It established a Parliamentary system and from time to time the constitution would be amendment to establish a more semi-presidential parliamentary system. It is the current government, which is under the administration of Republic of Zamboanga Peninsula and Kor Pantaal as of November 2020.

Federal Republic

Government

The current government of the Fourth Republic consists of a Legislature called the Legislative Assembly, an executive branch of the President (used to be Head of State) and the Prime Minister (used to be Dexter-Chancellor), and a Supreme Court that has a lot of power. The Assembly members are voted for proportionately by the people, while the people vote for the executive Directly, and the Prime Minister appoints Ministers to their cabinet. The Supreme Court is appointed by the executive and confirmed in the Legislative Government.[4]

Policy

According to the Social Democratic Union's website, Lisseum currently is working on a recruitment programme, constitutional reforms, and a reformed roleplay ministry, which is undertaken by the Ministry of Culture.[5]

Political System

The government currently as of November 2020 has a majority of the left-wing Social Democratic Party in both government and it's legislature. The SDU also holds a coalition with the Green Party. The National Party, a centre-right wing part, holds the current opposition.[6]
