Controversy
Anti-racist, anti-sexist and anti-homophobic government policy
The Republic of Diversa is infamous for its strict anti-racist, anti-sexist and anti-homophobic government policies, including laws prohibiting usage of languages other than English and languages recognised by the Big Soviet as being indigenous, laws banning the creation of statues dedicated to British people, laws banning denial of the Holocaust, the Armenian genocide and the negative side-effects of the Atlantic slave trade, laws banning movies and popular culture if they portray United States Armed Forces and U.S. law enforcement in a positive light and laws banning Donald Trump and Ivan Brienović from entering Diversan territory.
These kind of policies, alongside remarks by Supreme Leader Uğur Saçan about Cornish people, Welsh people and Frisian people stating that the vast majority of people identifying as such are "self-appropriating" their local cultures and in fact English, Scottish, Irish, Dutch, German or Danish people attempting to deny their personal and their ancestors' personal influence in the Atlantic slave trade and its consequences, have been described as "self-defeating", "ridiculous", "hypocritical" and as racist, sexist and homophobic themselves.
Satire
Strict government policies, alongside messages by Supreme Leader Uğur Saçan defending satirical elements in micronationalism and mocking what he perceived as overly-serious elements, have led the Republic of Diversa and its policies to be described as the "communist Pavlov", "satirical" or as "bait". These allegations have been denied by Supreme Leader Uğur Saçan who has stated that "Diversa is fully serious and its citizens are expected to follow its laws".
