Prince of Hayne
Prince of Hayne is a title used by Princes of Exeter who hold the condition of heir apparent to the Exonian throne.
On 10 September 2022 the title was conferred upon Prince James. And it refers to the latest annexation to the Kingdom of Exeter, the Kingdom of Hayne.
Before Prince of Hayne
Prior to the Prince of Hayne, the title of Prince of Kent was used as denomination for those who held the condition of heir apparent to the throne, it has been conferred twice: the first time being bestowed upon Prince Joseph (now King Henry VII) and the second time bestowed upon his son, who also goes by the name of Joseph. He is still currently the Prince of Kent, although he does not hold the condition of heir apparent.
As of today, the title of Prince of Kent is an honorary title that is planned on becoming extinct after the death of its current holder, and the title of Prince of Hayne is expected to be used for future generations.
Titles and roles
No formal public role or responsibility has been legislated by Parliament or otherwise delegated to the Prince of Hayne by law or custom. In that role, James often assists king Henry VII in the performance of his duties. He represented him when welcoming other dignitaries to Exeter and during state visits. He also represented the King and the Kingdom of Exeter overseas at state occasions such as dinner parties or embassies
