The Kingdom of Exeter, Cumberland and Hayne, commonly known as the Kingdom of Exeter or just Exeter is an unrecognized micronation that claims an uninhabited parcel of disputed land on the western bank of the Danube, between Croatia and Serbia, It was proclaimed on 23 March 2014 by the British descendent of The Duke of Exeter, Henry Albert Fitz-James Stuart.
The parcel of land in question is 7 km2 (2.7 sq mi) in area, roughly the same size as Gibraltar. It has been administered by Croatia since the Croatian War of Independence. Exeter has no diplomatic recognition from any recognized nation. Since 2014 the Free Republic of Liberland has claimed the same lands, and placed a flag raising in Gornja Siga which was performed by Vit Jedlicka.
Government and politics
Exeter is a unitary state under a constitutional monarchy. King Henry VII is the monarch and head of state of Exeter, as well as two other independent countries: Cumberland and Hayne. The monarch has the right to open and dismiss parliament, appoint and dismiss Prime Ministers and other government officials and pass or veto any laws within the realms. The constitution of Exeter is not defined and consists mostly of His Majesty's will, judge-made case law, international treaties and statutes.
