The Pontunian Republican Revolution, also known as the Magnolia Revolution, is an ongoing revolution, as well as a period of radical change, within Pontunia. The revolution began on 28 February 2023 after the Interim Holy Leader of Pontunia, Andronicus II, blocked any attempt to grant coronation to Charles Madgett, declaring that the throne had become vacant, and a republic formed.

Background

Pontunian Law and Social tradition grants the Head of the House of Perdomo sacrosanctity, and to serve as interim Holy Leader of Pontunia in the case of a vacancy after a 6 month term finishes. The Monarch of Pontunia is coronated by the Holy Leader or someone delegated on his behalf, otherwise the monarch lacks legitimacy and the right to rule. Due to a takeover of the Crown, and because of the Lack of a Holy Leader, the positions of King and Holy Leader are occupied by different people.

Outbreak

On 28 February 2023, following Madgett v. Perdomo, small scale riots were formed by members of the Populist Communion and residents of Pontunia. Andrew Perdomo declared the formation of a Catholic Republic, calling for "Independence, Transcendence, Repentance". On March 13, the Revolution gained support from other nations, and a online presence was made public.

Foreign Responses

Other micronations responses to the conflict.

United New England Micronations Secretary General Elizabeth Snowie Langley stated the following:

Though the United New England Micronations has 2 Elarian Commonwealths in it, as Pontunia was a member of the United New England Micronation and Ela'r'oech was not, the United New England Micronations will support the Catholic Republic of Pontunia but will not assist and only hope for the victory of Pontunia.
