The Lord Chancellor of Laskaridia (Westavian: Dōme dēi Chancēnne) is the de-jure head of government of the Kingdom of Laskaridia. The office is without a holder.
Duties
The office is directly subordinate to the sovereign, and is a constitutional figure. The office presides over the Chamber of Lords and the House of Ministers alongside the King.
Regalia and Ceremonial Duties
The Lord Chancellor wields a ceremonial scepter, the Baton of Office. It has Westavian, Latin and Greek inscriptions. It was first held by Charles, Marquis of Donnauberg who was granted the office Lord Chancellor of Laskaridia in 2017 by Jay (Jean) II.
List of Lords Chancellor
The title was originally Westavian, despite its de-jure area of control being the area near Laskaridia, the title was a placeholder for head of government of Westavia. The title was granted by the Shahanian emperors to friends and family. The title was briefly called Seneschal during the reign of Shahan III. Charles, the Marquis of Donnauberg, a close friend of Jay II was granted the office and the baton by the Emperor, he did not pass any acts and was known as a very inactive Chancellor. His successor Patrick Deshault was a commoner who was granted the title by Shahan III, he passed 3 acts. Shahan III assumed the office due to the resignation of Deshault and there being no prospective successor other than himself.
