Secretary General before election

Basil of Lofokrithia

Elected Secretary General

Manolis Afentoulis

The election was held on the 9th of May 2020 to determine the first elected Secretary-General of the League of Hellenistic Micronations. This was the first election in the League's history. Manolis Afentoulis won narrowly by just 1 vote and chose Thomas Marios I as his Deputy Secretary-General.

Background

Prior to these elections, the Secretary-General was appointed by the Hegemon of the League. On 21 April 2020 it was decided by the Hegemon himself to abolish the hegemony and thus make the Secretary-General the head of the League's government. His proposal was voted and ratified on 24 April 2020, effectively terminating his term.

On the 9th of May, the elections took place and Manolis Afentoulis emerged as the first elected SG of the League of Hellenistic Micronations.

Timeline

The timeline leading to the election was announced on the 1st of February.

  • 24/4 to 7/5: Announcement of nominations
  • 5/5 to 7/5: Initiation of the campaign season
  • 9/5: Elections
  • 9/5: Delivery of the General Secretariat to the new SG, who will choose his Deputy (usually the second candidate in votes, without that being binding)
