The Socorran Kromer is the currency of the Despotate of Socorro. It was originally created in 2021, and it's current form was created in 2022.

Etymology

The name "Kromer" is in reference to deltarune chapter 2, more specifically Spamton G. Spamton who repeatedly refers to money as "Kromer"

Units

The del is danish for part, The pfennig is a former subdivision of the German Mark, the Tau is from Germanic Tausend for thousand the number of Taus in a Kromer

Conversion Pfennigs

Conversion Pfennigs (equal to ☆0.00001, or 0.01ŧ) were a unit of account used in the transition from the old to new Kromer, being worth one old pfennig. They were officially abolished on 1/1/2024, with the total demonetization of Old Kromer.

History

First Kromer

The first Kromer consisted of two distinct series of banknotes, of these the first issue 5☆ note and second issue 50☆ note are of known design, it is likely that the second series did not include notes lower than 50☆

The Socorran Kromer was introduced in 2021 as part of the school project that resulted in the Despotate of Socorro it was originally tied to the value of iron in ounces. this was due to iron being a "practical" medal as opposed to medals like gold or silver, the value of witch are mostly symbolic.

Redenomonation

In early 2022 the Kromer dropped 3 zeros as one the exchange rate at the time was one Kromer to 0.0025USD. The first Kromer used the code SCK while the new kromer uses SCR.

Naming convention

while the new kromer is officially named as such, no banknotes bear this distinction. In stead new and old kromer are distinguished by placement of the currency sign with old being written as x☆ while new is ☆x.

The Kromer coins currently only exists legally as Socorro currently does not have the means to create coins though there are planned designs.

Value

The old Kromer was valued at one troy ounce of pure iron however as this resulted in an incredibly low valued currency it was redenominated in 2022 as new kromer which dropped 3 zeros from the denomination.
