Election Map of Constituency Vote

The June 2021 Hong Kong Legislative election took place from June 13th to June 15th, 2021. All 9 seats of the Legislative Council of Hong Kong were up for election. The National Democratic Union was reelected as the largest party with 4 seats (3 list + the Chief Secretary) out of 8 seats.

Election Background

The election was requested by the Chief Secretary to the Governor-General which triggered the election process. With the Governor-General giving powers to the Electoral Commissioner Office to start an election. With this, a timeline, guidelines, and other institutions were finalized and candidacy opened on the date of 1 June 2021 and ended on the date of 8 June 2021. Election day was set for 13 June 2021.

During the build-up to the end of the candidacy deadline, multiple security threats were posed by outside political groups which were promptly banned by the HKCEC and the Immigration Bureau.

Following the announcement of an election on 1 June 2021, candidacy signups opened until 8 June 2021 where the party ranks its candidates in the party-list system.
