The Invasion of Highland was the opening military operation of the Herzetian Nativist War, taking place on 30 March 2022. It resulted in the capture and occupation of the Highland region of Nolius by the Herzetian Nativist Force.
Prelude
Following the Herzetian Nativist Front's declaration of war against the Constitutional Republic of Columbia and their representatives in Nolius [1], the Nolius Constabulary Force began to receive reports of disturbances in the outlying regions of the city. They were ordered by mayor Asher Young to investigate these disturbances, and a small force of 2 was dispatched to conduct an investigation and patrol of the outer regions. These investigations concluded shortly, with nothing of interest being uncovered at the supposed trouble sites. No other expeditions or investigations were conducted, and the conflict remained cold until the 30th.
Invasion
On 30 March, 2022, over two weeks following the declaration of war, the Nativist Force conducted a full-scale invasion of the Highland region. They met no resistance, and swiftly occupied the entire region, as well as the former Herzetian military base of Fort Cnoc, lying deep within the center of the region. Following their success, the Nativist Front published another video on YouTube [2], announcing their victory and displaying photographs taken by HNF members during the invasion. All of the photos depicted a black flag flying in front of local scenery in Highland, such as Fort Cnoc and the Knotted Hills. The video was sent to mayor Young via anonymous email, and prompted him to once again message president Maloney, informing him of the invasion and declaring his intent to retaliate.
Aftermath
Once he was aware of the invasion, Young (who was on vacation at the time, and thus incapable of leading any kind of military force in person) ordered the heads of the Constabulary Force and Herzetian-Coilumbian military units to collaborate and plan a counterattack to retake the region. Mobilization was swift, and members of the Constabulary Force and CRC military, accompanied by a nominal amount of armed pro-Columbian citizens, marched to Highland on 4 April 2022. The counterattack would culminate in the Battle of Highland.
