The Immigration and Naturalisation Service is an agency of the Cabinet Office, responsible for management of citizenship applications, visas, citizenship status and renewal. The agency was formed on 13 October 2022 after the dissolution of the Ministry of Citizenship Affairs, and its assets given to the Cabinet Office. The agency is headed by a Minister of State, under the Prime Minister.

History

The Immigration and Naturalisation Service was created on 13 October 2022, after the dissolution of the Ministry of Citizenship Affairs. The Immigration and Naturalisation Service was formed after the ministry’s assets were absorbed into the Cabinet Office.

Duties

The agency is responsible for management of citizenship applications, visas, and status of overseas citizens. The agency is headed by the Minister of State, who is appointed by the President of the Federation.
