The Princely House of Orbovia was a micronational royal house that occupied the Imperial Throne of the Holy Canadian Empire. The house also produced several dukes and princes that ruled various sovereign states within the empire. It's founder was Emperor Frederick IV.
Name
The family name Orbovia was derived from Or; the French word for gold, combined with Bovia; the name of an ancient Anglo-Saxon tribe whose descendants later settled in Bouville, Seine-Maritime in Normandy. Among these Anglo-Saxons who migrated in search of prosperity and a better life were ancestors of Emperor Frederick, who combined their historical tribal name with or as a means of symbolizing the pursuit of wealth, prestige, and a brighter future.
History
Frederick had previously founded the short lived Republic of Orbovia in 2019 and led the small nation until its dissolution in January 2021. Joined by a small group of family and close personal friends, Frederick reestablished Orbovia as a royal ruling house and claimed the lands of his former republic as the Archduchy of Glacia. The newly christened duchy continued to grow for the next several months and attracted the attention of several other Canadian micronationalists who were interested in joining the new nation. After a dedicated core group of like-minded individuals was established, the foundation of the Holy Canadian Empire was officially declared on April 8 2021 upon the accession of Emperor Frederick IV to the Imperial Throne.
Members
There were 7 members of the House of Orbovia, 5 of which were members by birth or connected through marriage, and 3 who were formally invited into the house.
