The Government of New Shropshire is the executive branch and civil service of New Shropshire. It is led by the Governor with assistance from the Vice-Governor and Chief Minister.
History
The Government was formed in 1839 by the Guildford Declaration, which unilaterally declared New Shropshire as a 'colony of the crown'.
Ministers and departments
The Government of New Shropshire is primarily organised into 4 Ministerial Offices, as well as the Offices of the Governor and Vice-Governor. Each Office manages a number of Crown Agencies and Crown Corporations.
Ministers do not normally sit in the New Shropshire Assembly, but instead are appointed on expertise. They are intended to be primarily politically neutral, and work under the direction of the Governor.
By tradition, the Governor appoints one of the ministers as Chief Minister, though this confers no additional powers.
Relationship with the Privy Council
The King's Privy Council for New Shropshire, through its Cabinet Committee, acts as the direction and oversight body for the Government, in its role as the advisory council to the Governor. All ministers are made Privy Counsellors for their term.
Location
The Government of New Shropshire is primarily based in England. Historically, it did maintain an outpost on New Shropshire as well.
