The New Shropshire Assembly is the democratic legislature of New Shropshire.
Elections
The Assembly holds a general election when declared by the Governor, which by convention is every 7 years. For these, New Shropshire is split into 4 wards:
- Geraldine North
- Geraldine South
- St James
- Holf
It elects using the single non-transferrable vote system, with 7 candidates being elected in each ward. It is common for a party to run multiple candidates in the same ward.
Parties
The MNSAs have formed into two broad parties:
Party | Seats |
---|---|
Sphenisca | 23 |
Otariinae | 5 |
Powers
The Assembly has faced criticism in the past for being too weak. This is because the Governor holds a veto over any decisions it makes, meaning it cannot easily go against.
The executive, by convention, does not sit in the Assembly.
