The Department of National Defense of the Arstotzkan Union is the civilian administrative office for the People's Armed Forces of the Arstotzkan Union. It is a branch of the Executive Committee and Arstotzkan High Command with the Senior Chairman reporting to both the Executive Committee of the Office of the Presidency and the Arstotzkan Executive War Council.
The Department was formed on 14 September 2020 by the First President. It was announced to be the replacement of the Ministry of Defense.
Three years later in 2023 the Department of National Defense was moved from under the command of the Arstotzkan Executive War Council and moved be under the command of the Executive Committee and be apart of the Arstotzkan Federal Government. The Department of Intelligence and National Security was also apart of the move leaving Arstotzkan High Command with only the AEWC.
Role
The duties of the Department of National Defense include:
- Advise the Executive Committee on budget and expenses
- Advise the Executive Committee and Office of the Presidency on threats to national defence
- Maintain the readiness of the People's Armed Forces of the Arstotzkan Union
- Advise the Executive Committee on People's Armed Forces of the Arstotzkan Union activities
- Advise the Executive Committee on People's Armed Forces of the Arstotzkan Union relations and activities in the Joint Allied Response Defense Battalion & Tauranga Allied Micronational Treaty Organization.
