The Constitutional Republic of Columbia, formerly and mostly known as the Dan Republic, is a micronation that was planned in late 2018 and founded on 25 June 2020 by its first and current president, Daniel Lawrence Maloney, originally in protest of Donald J. Trump, who was the sitting president of the United States from 2017 to 2021.

History

Founding

The idea of the Columbia was first conceived in 2018 by the current president, Daniel Maloney, under the name "Dan Army". Maloney claims during this period of time, the Dan Army consisted of around 500 members. No records of this were ever recorded, leaving the claim unsubstantiated. After this period, Maloney would begin making plans for the foundation of the micronation. On 25 June 2020, Maloney had declared the Dan Republic independent from the United States. Later, Maloney would then declare that the Dan Republic would become a virtual micronation on Garry's Mod as stated in an apology video to the Micronational Assembly. Exactly 21 days afterward, Maloney retracted these statements, the Dan Republic would reestablish its real-world claims.

Handover of the Beaver Island Archipelago

On 13 March 2021, Columbia would cede the Beaver Island Archipelago to the Dominion of West Canada in hopes to exclude itself from the land claim dispute in the region with Kapreburg. Maloney stated; "I believe you would make better use of the territory" in a conversation with Connor Shaw, the Governor-General Of West Canada. Later after the name change, the Beaver Island Archipelago was handed back to CR Columbia.

Government

The government of Columbia is defined by the Constitution of the Constitutional Republic of Columbia. Originally Maloney wanted to create a constitution more liberal and democratic, but was later criticized to have very anocratic ideals. The Constitution was reformed to be more democratic.
