The Communist Party of the Sorrenian Federation or the CPSF, (also occasionally known as the CPSF-MLM) is a left-wing, anti-revisionist, political party in the Sorrenian Federation, adhering to the Marxist-Leninist-Maoist school of thought. Through the party's history it has been in government numerous times as a result of coalitions with the Sorrenian Workers Party and its predecessors. Although originally a purely Marxist-Leninist party, on the 31st of August 2014 the Party voted in its first congress to adopt Marxism-Leninism-Maoism as its official ideology. It is staunchly against the adoption of a Sorrenian monarchy, and the Party supports the abolition of hereditary seats in the national legislature.

History

The CPSF was originally formed to counter the growth of the right wing in Sorrenia. Dedicated to Marxism-Leninism, the party set out to defend the Socialist and Communist elements of Sorrenia; they successfully stopped the Egalitarian Party (a centrist anti-Communist party in Sorrenia) from eradicating Communist icons.

1st Congress

Several changes were made during the party's first congress in August 2014, such as the adoption of a new name (the party had previously been known simply as the Communist Party of Sorrenia) and the formal adoption of Marxism-Leninism-Maoism. The party also reaffirmed its commitment to working together with other left-wing parties in Sorrenia.

2nd Congress

Shortly after the first ever Single Transferable Vote Election in Sorrenia, the party held their 2nd Congress, in which several issues were discussed. The leader, Harry Fitzpatrick congratulated members for their success over the Sorrenian Union of Fascists, and also reaffirmed their position in the People's Coalition - among other things.

Republicanism

Throughout the CPSF's history, the party has been staunchly opposed to Monarchies in Sorrenia. Originally, they were lenient, due to the democratic nature of Monarchies in Sorrenia, however after the creation of the "Sorrenian Commonwealth Party", they set out to end hereditary Monarchies in Sorrenia. They were unsuccessful, however were able to stop Sorrenia from being a Kingdom Nationally. The party to this day accepts Republicanism as a key ideology, and regularly opposes Monarchies when able to do so. This has led to a strain in a relationship with its coalition partners and criticisms from the Sorrenian Commonwealth Party, which seeks to implement a nationwide Sorrenian monarchy.

Electoral Results

The CPSF put out four candidates in the Sorrenian general election all of whom were elected, doubling the number of CPSF representatives in the National Assembly.
