Burlington, officially known as the Burlington Democratic Federal Republic, was a self-declared independent country located in the Mid-Atlantic region of North America.
Burlington was founded on 9 October 2018, the country was established as a socialist republic where power concentrated in the popular mandate of its citizens.
The socialist state was established after a lengthy period of reforms in order to return to the country's socialist roots. The President is bound to the sentiment of the people in order to remain in power. This provides a balance between the citizens and the state. It is the equivalent of a vote of no confidence.

The origin of the name comes from the county which the country was founded in.

Burlington was founded on October 9, 2018.
The Grand Commonwealth of Burlington was formed on October 9, 2018; born from a former micronation named the Pineland Commonwealth.
On December 24, 2018, Burlington returned to its socialist state with the establishment of the Socialist People's Republic of Burlington.
Geography
Burlington is primarily temperate woodlands surrounding a large pasture.

Administrative divisions
The country is divided into four types of division:
- Municipality: governed by an administrator appointed by the President. It has autonomy in the the sectors of economy, agriculture, resources, and justice. Indeed, each administrator can, by decree, enrich a local codex.
- Autonomous District: governed by an administrator elected by the local population. Term of office is one year. It has autonomy in all sectors. Each administrator may, by decree, enrich a local codex. Recognition of a local identity.
- Region of Importance: governed directly by the central government. Commonly associated with the capital of the Republic; may have other exceptional cases.
- Frontier Territory claimed by the central government. Represents the claimed territory of the Republic, without any executive control.
