The Aspen Army is the principal land warfare force of the Aspen Empire, a part of Aspen Armed Forces. As of 2019, the Aspen Army comprises 15 trained regular (full-time) personnel and 5 trained reserve (part-time) personnel.
Although all members of the Aspen Army are expected to swear (or affirm) allegiance to James II as their commander-in-chief, the Bill of Rights in the 2019 Aspen Constitution requires parliamentary consent for the Crown to maintain a peacetime standing army. Therefore, Parliament may approve a standing army for a specified period of time with an Armed Forces Act. The army is administered by the Ministry of Defence and commanded by the Chief of the General Staff.
