Arlandicans (Filipino: Mga Arlandikano) are the people who hold citizenship in Arlandica. They share ties with Austronesian peoples, primarily Filipinos. Arlandicans are fluent in various Philippine and Asian languages, yet the official languages recognized are Cebuano, Filipino, and Ilocano. Roughly two-thirds of Arlandica's population resides within the country's borders.
The first person to have Arlandican citizenship is, of course, its founder and current monarch, King Jerold I. The next person to gain citizenship is his younger sister, Jeanne, the heir apparent to the throne. The population of Arlandicans is slowly growing, and the government is actively making efforts to recruit more people.
Qualifications for citizenship
Native-born Arlandican citizens are those whose fathers or mothers are citizens of Arlandica. Foreign nationals who are citizens of a macronation, rather than any micronation, may be eligible to apply for Arlandican citizenship through the process of naturalization.
Foreign nationals who meet the eligibility criteria, as outlined in Article 8 of the constitution, can submit an application or letter of intent for naturalization to the monarch. The monarch will then review the application and either approve or reject it. Upon obtaining Arlandican citizenship, naturalized citizens enjoy the same rights, privileges, and responsibilities as native-born Arlandican citizens.
According to the constitution, Arlandicans are not allowed to hold dual citizenship. However, exceptions to this prohibition may be granted through a letter of intent under extraordinary circumstances, subject to direct approval by the monarch or rejection.
Identification
All Arlandican citizens are required to have passports issued by the Arlandican government.
Citizens and Residents
Citizens possess the right to run for government office, join the country's political parties, receive free education, and serve as personnel in the civil guard. Citizens cannot be deported unless they have violated the laws imposed by the government.
Residents of Arlandica are individuals who possess legal permission to reside within the territory of the kingdom but have not yet acquired citizenship. They do not enjoy the full rights and privileges granted to citizens. Residents are foreigners who have been granted legal permission to reside within the country indefinitely, often due to their purchase of land in Arlandica, subject to macronational laws. While certain land in Arlandica is not owned by the government or citizens, residents, including other foreign nationals, lack political rights and the ability to hold positions in the Arlandican government. Nonetheless, they are eligible to serve in the civil guard.
