Origin
The Wellmoore Cross was established on the 16th of March 2020 as the Highest Achieveable award of the Wellmoorean Honours System.
Award Process
A recommendation for the WC is normally issued by a Commissioned Officer at Regimental Level and has to be supported by three witnesses. The recommendation is then passed up the military hierarchy until it reaches the Minister of Defence. The recommendation is then laid before the Monarch who approves the award with his or her signature.
The Wellmoore Cross is always presented by the currently serving Monarch and is only ever awarded by the monarch.
Authority and Privileges
As the highest award for valour of the Kingdom of Wellmoore the Wellmoore Cross is always the first award to be presented, even before Knighthoods and the Knight Cross.
The WC is always the first decoration worn in a row of medals and it is the first set of post-nominal letters used to indicate any decoration or order. Similar acts of extreme valour that do not take place in the face of the enemy are honoured with the Knight Cross (KC).
