Other than the fort-like structure, Stonefort was founded on an urban park, the area had many structures scattered throughout the land originating from the former amusement park in the area. Jacob Vancapelle was the first Senator and de-facto governor of Stonefort.
Etymology
The name was given in regards to the iconic "stonefort" like structure despite actually being the ruins of an old water tank and numerous rock formations.
History
Stonefort before Faltrian occupation has been a public attraction since the mid-1800s under the United States. William Winslow first began serving dinner and offering amusements when he purchased the area in 1847. During the 20th century, the area was a very popular amusement park offering many rides, such as roller coasters, a ferris wheel, and a carousel. Throughout the history of the land, it was privately owned many times.
In 1865, the land was purchased by Byron Sprague off of Winslow, and again in 1869 by the Continental Steamboat Company with Randall A. Harrington in charge of the land. Harrington built up the popular space into a premier resort. Following a destructive fire in 1883, its character shifted to emphasizing rides, performances, sports, and other attractions. The land went under multiple owners but maintained its popularity throughout the 20th century. In the 1990s, its parent company struggled financially, and the areas park was closed in November 1994.
Many of the rides and attractions were sold, but much of the land sat abandoned for years, a popular site for vandals and urban explorers for a long time. In 2007, the City of Warwick would purchase 41 acres of the land, the area was reopened to the public in June 2011.
Faltrian Occupation
In June 2021, Jebediah Powell declared the land apart of Faltree after had visiting it. He would rename the area from Rocky Point to Stonefort and establish it as a new county. Over the course of a year it would have 3 senators, most notably Vancapelle. Despite being under Faltrian rule, Stonefort was given a sense of autonomy to Stonefort.
