The Sovereign Order of the Knights of Lascyre is a micronational order of chivalry and knighthood awarded by the House of Lascaria. It was founded in 2018 by Shahan III of Westavia but is considered a dynastic order of the Lascarians. It is similar in fashion and proceedings to the Order of Saint John, it has similar insignia and black colored robes and hats, one difference is that is is not Christian, and is awarded to all religions and occupations. The Order has 3 ranks, the Grand Master, the Chancellor, and Knights/Dames each with their own privileges.
History
The order was originally an attempt by Shahan III of Westavia to "modernize" Westavia and make it more classical and less [w:medieval|medieval]]. The order originally had a collar but no longer has one. The order was originally an actual military regiment, and fought in several battles.
Ranks and insignia
The order has a unique insignia, with a ribbon collar, a ribbon badge and a star (worn on the breast area). The insignia evolved over time, with there originally being a dark-blue robe, the order's chancery was given to Patrick Deshault. Deshault advocated for a more Napoleonic-style robe that did not touch the feet. The emperor approved and requested his sister to knit robes, they turned out black though and black was adopted as the order's new style.[1] The Order was finalized on November 11th 2018 by a decree from the Emperor.
Deshault was appointed the Chancellor, and he and the Emperor both held the exclusive right to grant the order. Many notable members include all former Emperors, the succeeding Emperors, and their retinues respectively (including that of the then-reigning Emperor Shahan II). Many efforts were made to add more insignia such as the traditional collar, medal and ribbon bar. None were accepted due to financial constraints on the office of the Emperor, and the de-facto closure of major financial institutions. This caused the order to fail, so the Emperor decided to make the order a more militaristic order, with "knights" having real military obligations, however, this is not the case today.
Robe and star
The robe is black in color, it has a wide collar and is linked at the neck often with a pin or rope. The robe may sometimes have a big star on the sides signifying high rank in the order. The star is white in color and is resembling of the Order of Saint John (British order chartered 1888). The Order's star has an area in the front with a circle with text. And "Vivat Nostræ Rex Shahanvs," the original Westavian motto of the Order. There is also an optional collar-ribbon worn as if it were a necklace.
Members
The order has had many members, such as notable ministers, soldiers, nobles, clergymen and ordinary citizens.
