The January 2017 Sonoran Imperial Council election was a legislative election to elect all 11 seats of the Imperial Council. The Chairman of the Imperial Council is the equivalent of a "President pro tempore" and is thusly delegated to the Prime Minister of Sonora. The Imperial Council is elected based on a multi-party proportional representation. Each candidate must receive at least 15% of the vote to carry a seat in the Council. The election was held on January 9th, 2016, coinciding with the election for Emperor and the swearing in of members is set for January 15th.
