The Secretary of State for Internal Affairs, sometimes known as the Internal Secretary, is a senior Minister of the Crown in the Government of Tanaau and head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The office is comparable to that of an interior minister, making it one of the most influential government offices in Tanaau.

The internal secretary also advises the prime minister and monarch on other maters concerning internal security and safety.
Appointment
The internal secretary is appointed by and serves at the monarch's pleasure. By convention, they are appointed on the advice and nomination of the prime minister.
As an important member of the government, they are one usually the first minister to be appointed (after the prime minister) when a new government is formed.
History
The office of internal secretary was established on 17 November 2023. It is one of the oldest cabinet offices in Tanaau.
