The Saladin Defense Group (also known as Saladin, or simply SDG) is a uniformed Micronational Private Military Company established in April 2021 by Connor Modena.
History
Saladin Defense Group, SDG, was created by Connor Modena for the purpose of training and advising Micronational Militaries and provide a temporary Command Staff for nations seeking a defense force.
Saladin is headquartered in Dracul with regional offices in the states of Louisiana and California and is registered with the Dracul Small Business Administration.
Symbolism
The SDG’s namesake is Salah ah-Din, Sultan of Eqypt and the Eagle emblem derived from Salah ah-Din’s coat of arms.
Connor Modena chose to name SDG and use of the Eagle from Salah ah-Din because of his respect of the warrior culture of the Crusade era Middle Eastern armies of Salah ah-Din earned while deployed to Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Saladin is modeled after Mike Hoare’s “Wild Geese” 5 Commando in that it is a uniformed private military, unlike the modern “5.11 and Polo’s” companies.
Commanders
Saladin is commanded by Veterans of the United States military with multiple years of service, as well as service within micronational militaries.
Connor Modena
Connor Modena is a US Marine Veteran who deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan during both Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom. Modena has also served as Secretary of Defense of Dracul and commander of the Engineer Corps, Foreign Legion, and Deputy Commander of the Dracul Army.
Scott Jeanes
Scott Jeanes is a US Army Infantryman currently serving in the California National Guard. Jeanes has deployed to the Mexican Border as part of Task Force Vigilance, as well as Task Force Polanski and the 2020 LA Riots. Jeanes serves as Secretary of Defense of Dracul and commander of the Dracul Army.

Employment
Employment with Saladin is voluntarily unpaid and open to citizens of any Micronation. A background in Macro armed forces or a minimum of 5 years in a Micro armed force is required for eligibility.
