The Republic of Oriana, commonly known as Oriana, is a sovereign state, commonly referred to as a "micronation" by observers. It is located in the Midwestern and Eastern United States, in the states of Michigan and Virginia.
Oriana is the de-facto successor to the Huronese Republic, Co-operative Republic of Wendatia, and Republic of Wendatia. Unlike it's previous sucessors, the President of Oriana, Dzhona Yaruvich has claimed that "Oriana only allows people I know in-person in, and/or people I trust".
Since it's establishment, it has been a Multi-party democracy with a Semi-presidential system.
Etymology
The name "Oriana" is a Latin interpretation for the word "Sunrise". It is romanized in Oriani as "Orjana"
History
As Oriana
on May 20th, 2024, at 12:00 PM EST, All political activity was effectively frozen in a self-coup, "until new elections would be held". Afterwards, Oriana was declared a "Non-partisan state" and as such all political parties were de-facto banned.
Culture
the Culture of Oriana is generally regarded to be made up of mostly Eastern Slavic components, with small influences from Italy.
Politics
Oriana's government functions as a Unitary semi-presidential republic.
Oriana is subdivided into 8 Provinces (Ёоблац / Yoblats) which are all run by 3-member councils, with 1 member of the council being "Premier" of said municipality. de-facto however, they are usually census areas/run by a single elected/appointed premier. To date, the only elected premier had been Ian B, who was elected premier of Siarhrod in the Feburary 2024 elections. After the Provincial Reforms in March of 2024, he became Premier of Livanya Province.
Each province usually consists of several "Communities" which operate under a direct-democratic system for local decision-making, while relying on local Provincial services and elections. Communities are usually granted a Flag and Coat of Arms from the central government.
Some municipalities operate under a special/unique status. Panale and Galina are divided into several "Districts" with no political power. These districts serve as statistical regions.
Political Parties
on May 21st, 2024, All political parties were de-facto Banned by the Oriani government, after an executive order by president Dzhona Yaruvich declaring Oriana a "Non-partisan state"
