The Provisional Council of State was the temporary council of state established to create the Republic of New Shetland. The Provisional Council of State was created to write and approve of the Constitution of New Shetland, write and release the Proclamation of Independence, and form an interim government to establish government departments.
It was created on 18 August 2022 and was dissolved after the release of the Proclamation of Independence on 21 August 2022.
In total, there were eight members of the Provisional Council of State. The Chairman of the Provisional Council of State, Liam Lithgow, would later become the President of New Shetland.
History
On 18 August 2022, Liam Lithgow established the Provisional Council of State. The purpose of the council of state was to fully establish the Republic of New Shetland as an independent, sovereign nation, declaring her independence from New Zealand. The council also had the task of creating the Constitution of New Shetland, the supreme law of the Republic of New Shetland, the release of the Proclamation of Independence and the forming of an interim government.
On 21 August 2022, at the release of the Proclamation of Independence, the Provisional Council of State was dissolved.
