The Presidential Medal of Liberty is the highest honour in the Aumarean honours system. It is awarded to civilians and military personnel by the President of the United Federation for "an especially meritorious contribution to the security or national interests of the United Federation, world peace, cultural or otherwise significant public or private endeavours". The award is not limited to UF citizens.
The medal can be awarded with or without distinction. The class in which the medal is awarded in is chosen at the president's discretion. Recipients of the award, regardless of the class of the award, are permitted to use the post-nominals PMOL.
History
The presidential medal of liberty is the oldest Aumarean honour. It was established by President Luke Knight on 20 April 2023.
Insignia
The main insignia for the award is in medal form. The medal is styled after the Presidential Medal of Freedom but instead of having the thirteen stars in the centre of the main star, they have been replaced with the star featured on the Aumarean Flag. The insignia for the award was adopted on 21 May 2023.
Precedence
The presidential medal of liberty is the highest honour in the Aumarean honours system. It comes first in the order of precedence in the Aumarean honours system and ranks above all other awards. The medal's post nominals come before all other post nominals recipients of the award may have. It is also worn 'first' when wearing Aumarean decorations.
Revocation
There is currently no official process or precedence set for the revocation of the award, however theoretically the president or the United Federation Congress could revoke the award from some holders under exceptional circumstances.
