The President of Clivestan is the head of state of the People's Democratic Republic of Clivestan, the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Clivestan.
The incumbent president, Arkadag, Matthew McShane, has held the position twice. His first term was 5 months from 1 August 2021 to the 1st January 2022. His second term began on the 13th March 2022.
The president of Clivestan is a member of the Halk Maslahaty (People's Assembly) and is appointed by a direct popular vote held every six months. The Mejlis of Clivestan nominate the presidential candidate of the People's Democratic Party of Clivestan, the dominant ruling party since 1 August 2021 which routinely has a vast majority in parliament.
Officeholders
There have been 2 holders of President of Clivestan. Matthew McShane was the first officeholder from August to January. The second holder was Benjamin McShane serving as interim people's president after a foiled coup attempt, Benjamin was appointed and won a riged vote.
Matthew McShane on the 13th of March 2022 held a vote becoming the president of Clivestan succeeding Benjamin McShane and removing the office of Supreme Leader of Clivestan.
History
The President of Clivestan was established on the 1st of August 2021. The rank was proceeded by President of Cliveland, the head of the government of Clivestan under the supreme leader of Cliveland. Matthew McShane held the post of president of Clivestan under Cliveland from 2017-2021 until he staged a coup dissolving the government and forming Clivestan.
Matthew McShane served as the first and only president of Cliveland.
The rank of president of Clivestan was established the day of the formation of Clivestan and Matthew McShane was voted in. The vote was seen as "illegal" and Matthew McShane was sworn in at the People's Hall for Liberty.
The deputy rank is the Vice President, a vacant rank which was established on 2 August 2021. The parliament is trying to remove the rank of Vice President currently.
Nominator
The Mejlis of Clivestan hold a unanimous vote to decide on the candidate for presidency of the People's Democratic Party of Clivestan. All other parties have their own councils who appoint the candidate. Matthew McShane received a vote of 100% to become the candidate on March 13.
Appointer
After the election, when results are released, the Halk Maslahaty made up of members only from the People's Democratic Party confirms the result of the election and allows for and schedules the date of the swearing in ceremony.
The President is sworn in at the People's Hall for Liberty.

Membership
The president of Clivestan becomes an immediate member of the Mejlis, Milli Ganesh, and the Halk Maslahaty. No president has every been from any other political party than the People's Democratic Party and that is unlikely to change.
The president must always report to the three assemblies and levels of government.
