Portamus
Portamus is a city in Thebes, in the province of Ackermanus. It is the second largest city in Thebes. Portamus is a relatively new city, founded on May 5, 2020, by James I of Thebes.
Etymology
Portamus is derived from the Latin word "Porta", meaning gate, referencing its position at the border with the United States.
History
James I established Portamus on the northern end of the Great Road, a route that stretches through two provinces. Portamus was founded as a settlement to secure Theban holdings to border territory bordering the United States.
Geography
Natural Features
Portamus sits on relatively flat ground. However, there is a small bluff in the center of the city. Portamus has been known to have abundant wildlife, including birds, squirrels, snakes, and deer.
Location
Portamus is located up against the border with the United States, at the northern terminal of the Great Road. Because of its location on the Great Road, which runs from Portamus to Ramius, Thebes's largest city, Portamus recieves many visitors, and is by far the most visited city in Ackermanus, despite the fact that Eithys is the largest city in Ackermanus, and the capital.
Population
As of 2020, Portamus has a population of 1, making up 25% of the province's population, and less than 1% of the population of Thebes.
