Orders, decorations, and medals of Avalonia

The orders, decorations, and medals of Avalonia refer to the honors awarded for acts of personal bravery, achievement, or service towards the cause, values, and ideals of the Republic of Avalonia. The honors system consists of three types of awards – merits, medals, and orders:

• Merits are used to denote acts of meritorious service, gallantry, and service.
• Medals are used to recognize national military or civilian service and good conduct and are often issued to commemorate special events.
• Orders are used to honor the citizens of Avalonia for outstanding performance in civil and public offices, personal achievement, outstanding diplomatic service, or other acts of friendship.

History

The Republic of Avalonia formally instituted the honor system on 13 August 2021, the date of declared independence from the United States of America. To commemorate this day, President James Murray instituted the use of the Presidential Service Merit, the Presidential Medal of Independence, the Presidential Medal of Independence with Distinction, the Distinguished Medal of National Sovereignty, and the Prestigious Order of the Blue Sun.
