History
Independence and coup d'état (2021-2022)
Norbritonia declared independence on March 26, 2021, following a period of growing discontent with the policies and actions of the United Kingdom. Led by President Aleksy Gwaj, a group of citizens came together to form a government and establish a new nation dedicated to freedom, democracy, and self-determination.
In the early months of its existence, Norbritonia faced numerous challenges as it worked to establish itself as a functioning state. Despite these challenges, the micronation's leaders were able to build a strong foundation for its future development, laying the groundwork for a successful and prosperous nation.
However, on March 7, 2022, a coup d'état took place, led by Thomas Jacobs. President Gwaj was inactive at the time, and Jacobs was able to seize power and take control of the government. Gwaj remained in exile until December 21, 2022, when he returned to Norbritonia and successfully regained the presidency.
Upon his return, President Gwaj immediately set to work on strengthening the micronation's military and security capabilities. He established an armed forces and a special forces unit, and began a process of modernizing and professionalizing the military. These efforts have helped to ensure the security and stability of Norbritonia, and have laid the foundation for its continued development and prosperity.
Second Norbritonian Republic (2023)
Aleksy Gwaj, the President of Norbritonia, made a speech about Norbritonia's economic plan on a sunny afternoon in the capital city's central square. In his address, the President outlined a comprehensive plan for the country's economic future, which was centered on a mix of agriculture and small-scale commerce. He emphasized the importance of these two sectors to Norbritonia's economy and detailed the various measures that would be taken to support their growth and development.
The President also highlighted the need for innovation and diversification, and spoke about the efforts being made to support the growth of new industries and technologies, as well as to attract investment from abroad. On 24 December 2022, the President of Norbritonia announced plans to hold the country's first democratic elections for the House of Representatives on 20 January 2023. On 8 January 2023, the Republic of Norbritonia was accepted as a provisional member of the Grand Unified Micronational (GUM), a prestigious international organization that brings together micronations from around the world to promote diplomacy, cooperation, and mutual understanding. The acceptance of Norbritonia into the GUM was the result of a vote by the member nations of the organization, with 21 nations casting votes in favor of Norbritonia's membership, 0 votes against, and 5 abstentions. This strong show of support from the international community marks a major milestone for the Republic of Norbritonia. The Republic of Norbritonia was suspended minutes after being accepted as a provisional delegate to the Grand Unified Micronation (GUM) due to accusations of anti-Semitism. The president of Norbritonia, Aleksy Gwaj, denied these accusations and claimed that they were false. However, the GUM stated that the suspension was necessary in order to maintain the integrity and values of the organization. The decision to suspend the Republic of Norbritonia was met with mixed reactions from the international community. Some applauded the GUM for taking a stand against hate and discrimination, while others questioned the validity of the accusations and called for a more thorough investigation. As a result of the suspension, the Republic of Norbritonia lost all of its privileges and rights as a member of the GUM.
On January 16, 2023, a self-coup d'état was attempted in the country of Roscamistan by members of the existing government, led by the Roscami Democratic Patriot Front, which also included Aleksy Gwaj, President of Norbritonia. The attempted coup was met with strong resistance from the opposition, and ultimately failed to overthrow the existing government.
In response to the attempted self-coup, President Aleksy Gwaj of Norbritonia announced that his country would cease all foreign relations with Roscamistan and would not recognize its independence. Instead, President Gwaj announced that Norbritonia would recognize the government in exile of Roscamistan as the legitimate government and offer it support.
This decision was met with mixed reactions, with some praising Norbritonia for standing up for democracy and others criticizing the move as interference in the internal affairs of another sovereign nation. The situation in Roscamistan and the relationship between the two countries remains tense. On January 17, 2023, Thomas Jacobs restored power as President in Roscamistan and the Republic of Norbritonia officially recognised Roscamistan once again.
The Republic of Norbritonia 2023 elections were held on January 20th and 21st 2023 to elect members of the House of Representatives, the country's legislative body. The elections were contested by several political parties, with each party fielding candidates for the various seats in the Assembly.
The results of the elections were notable for the fact that all parties were able to secure at least one seat in the House of Representatives, which wasa testament to the diversity of the country's political landscape and the strength of its democratic institutions.
The Free Norbritonia Party emerged as the largest party in the House of Representatives, winning the most seats and therefore having the right to form the government. Thomas Jacobs, was appointed as Prime Minister by the President of Norbritonia, Aleksy Gwaj.
Overall, the 2023 elections in Norbritonia were peaceful and orderly, and were widely regarded as a successful demonstration of the country's democratic institutions. The formation of a government by the Free Norbritonia Party, led by Prime Minister Thomas Jacobs, will bring a new era of governance and hope for the citizens of Norbritonia.
Great Norbritonian reform
Aleksy Gwaj, the President of Norbritonia, made a surprising move by dissolving the House of Representatives, Cabinet, and firing the Prime Minister. This decision was announced by the President in a public address, citing unorganization as the main reason.
According to President Gwaj, the rapid election of individuals into the House of Representatives and government caused chaos and disarray, leading him to take the drastic step of disbanding all political parties. This move has been met with mixed reactions from the citizens of Norbritonia, with some applauding the President for taking a bold step towards reestablishing order, while others criticize it as an abuse of power.
The impact of the President's decision on the future of Norbritonia remains to be seen, as the country now enters uncharted territory without a functioning House of Representatives or Cabinet. Many are now questioning what the next steps for the nation will be, as the President assumes all powers and responsibilities previously held by the disbanded political parties and government.
