The Mugahan Farmer-National Coalition or Farmer-National Coalition is a political alliance of right-wing political parties in the Mugahan Rump State. It was formed in April 2021 by merging the Farmers Party and National Party to constitute the Farmer-National Party in an attempt to gain majority government in the Mugahan 2021 Federal Election, which was unsuccessful.
After this, other right wing parties joined and campaigned in joint tickets, which lead to a shift in the alliance's political goals. Initially, the group was aimed at agrarian populism, however the introduction of conservative giant, the Mugahan Republican Party (MRP), pushed the alliance to conservative politics, aiming for senate elections, of which it won a single seat in the 2022 Senate Midterm. The MRP further pushed the party to republicanism, which was contrary to the reactionary nationalism adhered to by the original founding parties. The FNC found itself to be the aggregate of the MRP's subsidiaries and was overwhelmed with the ideological complexity and infighting these groups caused. In mid 2022, far-right nationalist party Mugahan Third joined the coalition, leading to conflicts in "political market share" with the MRP, leading to the MRP deregistering with the FNC. Other parties aligned with the MRP left the alliance shortly after. Since then, the coalition has been pushing for the adoption of conservative politics within the Mugahanian junta.
History
In April 2021, the two Mugahan right-wing political parties, the Farmers Party and the National Party, merged in the Lower House to become the Farmer-National Party, which was intended to gain a majority, hoping both parties could accumulate enough votes to secure a joint-ticket government. The National Party is a conservative libertarian party directing itself towards business owners, pushing for small government and typical conservatism, while the Farmers Party saw itself as the main representative of Mugahanian agriculturalists, who mostly followed conservative politics. The leader of the Farmers Party is given the position of leader within the FNP and FNC, while the leader of the National Party is installed as Deputy Leader.
This comes after the merger of the two main agrarian populist parties, the Farmers and Country parties, forming the Farmer-Country Party, an agrarian-focused conservative joint-ticket seeing little success in the Lower House. The Farmer-Country Party was an attempt at merging the typical agrarian Farmers Party with the more conservative and economically minded Country Party, who is aligned more strongly with republicanism. The Farmers Party was founded independently, while the Country Party has ties to the Mugahan Republican Party. The two agrarian political giants were traditional rivals, seeing a weak share of their voter base as most turned to the MRP to avoid confusion between the two. Both parties agreed to a joint-ticket and have since been operating an unsuccessful populist campaign appealing to the niche demographic of Mugahanian grass farmers and shrub loggers. Upon the creation of the Farmer-National Party, the FNC was created to accomodate a three way joint-ticket between all parties.
Mugahan Republican Party
The Mugahan Republican Party is the largest conservative party in Mugahan Politics, and sees itself as the main advocate of Mugahan republicanism. Famous for its anti-junta rhetoric, the MRP finds its main competitor to be the National Party, which advocates for conservatism under the junta framework. This is the main difference with the MRP and Farmer-National Party, which is the recognition of the Hummus McDonnell Junta. Despite general disagreement between the two brands of conservatism, the MRP felt it necessary to join the FNC, in an effort to dominate its leading offices. This plan failed, as the offices of Party Leader and Deputy Leader are traditionally given to the leaders of the Farmers and National Party respectively. Despite not attaining leadership, the sheer size and influence of the MRP gave way to a shift in policy from agrarian populism and pro-junta conservatism towards republicanism and hardline conservatism. MRP affiliates also joined the party, namely libertarian giant ADOP, the far-right party Mugahan Nationalism (MRP reply to Mugahan Third), and the pro-industrial libertarian party the Hunting and Polluting Party. These three parties were instrumental in shifting the policy further towards nationalism. Some time after the MRP joined the coalition, the Country Party deregistered with the coalition and deregistered from Lower House elections, instead opting to focus on the Senate. The Farmer-Country Party remained both in the Lower House and in the coalition.
Mugahan Third
Mugahan Third is a far-right political party in Mugahan that saw an increase in popularity under the MRP-FNP alliance. In September of 2022, Mugahan Third saw it fit to join the conservative aggregate after its dissolution from the Mugahan Overton window due to a slue of ultranationalist rhetoric from its leaders. The MRP felt the FNC could lose credibility if it affiliated itself with Mugahan Third, and lobbied for the party to be expelled from the alliance. The FNC did not sustain the MRP's request, leading to the MRP deregistering from the alliance. Over the next several months, the MRP's affiliate parties also left the alliance, culminating in ADOP deregistering from the alliance in January of 2023. Mugahan Third remains an integral party within the alliance.
