these people who have been vandalizing the wiki, we have proved, are getting info and help from the rouge state of the Runic Empire. their leader has been named public a public enemy here. I have my proof via a email one of these terrorist sent me. (well, he used a fake email sender, so I have no Email address for them, but they did state clearly it was them).

Good Article Process

Fairly recently, we have seen a number of abuses of the Good Article Process which should not be tolerated. The process was created to list the absolute best articles on MicroWiki, not to be a reviewing process or any of the other things that people seem to think that it is.

I would just like to make a few things clear about the process:

  1. The process is not for requests to review or improve an article.
  2. Submitting the same article 10 times without addressing the valid objections outlined by users is not on and will not win you any friends or favours.
  3. Read and make sure that your article fully satisfies the criteria before you nominate an article. It's pointless submitting an article that doesn't, because it will just get rejected, wasting your and everyone else's time.
  4. Many people have been voting on nominations on either whims or no basis at all. When voting on nominations, again, read and make sure that the article fully satisfies the criteria before you cast your vote. If you don't do this, then your vote will count for basically nothing when gauging a consensus.

In case people still haven't read the criteria, here they are:

  1. Well-written: its prose is engaging, coherent, clear and concise, and the spelling and grammar are correct.
  2. Comprehensive: it neglects no major facts or details, is of substantial length but does not go into unnecessary detail, remaining focused on the main topic.
  3. Accurate: it is well-researched and its claims are verifiable and not in dispute.
  4. Neutral: it represents viewpoints fairly and without bias.
  5. Illustrated: it should, where possible, be illustrated with appropriate images with succinct captions.
  6. Well-structured: it should have a concise introduction that summarises the topic and a system of hierarchical section headings with a substantial but not overwhelming table of contents.

The criteria are deliberately made to be at the very least fairly easy to understand and comprehend, so please read them. § Fishy § (TalkContribsWebsite) 23:53, 3 December 2011 (GMT)

I know I’ve been a critic in the past, Peter, but I want to echo the general sentiment supporting Fish and you as you both work to resolve this. I cannot support wanton destruction. Allow me to say that I don't blame any of you for supporting Aldrich - even I cannot claim to have foreseen that he would do something like this, and so it would be a horrible assumption if I were to say that you should have seen it coming. We've lost about twelve hour's worth of forum posts, but fortunately HostGator had run a backup of all the files that Aldrich attacked, and they were able to be restored. --User:Demontux - Egtavian President and Evil Oppressive Webmaster of Doom 13:07, 20 February 2012 (GMT)

Protest against the management of the mainpage

Office of the Grand Duke of Flandrensis

Grand Duchy of Flandrensis - Flandrensisian Commonwealth

Dear admins,

With this message I out my displeasure about the management of the mainpage. The recent months I contact several admins to have permission for publishing our newspaper in the section ‘Current headlines’. I understand that there are reasons for the limited access but The Gazet of Giddis is one of the oldest newspapers on MicroWiki and has a very large group of loyal readers. We only publish our newspaper once in a month so our articles are always related to micronationalism and Flandrensis.

Many Flandrensisians already complained about this and in the Senate there is criticism on the “MicroWiki elite” (not my words, but that is how they look to Microwiki and I’m sure Flandrensis isn’t the only micronation with that view). On May 14th I received the message that the admins re-open the section ‘Current headlines’. And today I want to publish the our new newspaper and … the access is already withdrawn. Meanwhile I read articles about the bickering between Sandus and Nemkhavia, not the “best micronational journalism” but a dispute between two micronations. I ask the admins to solve this problem and to treat every user on this mainpage fair and equal.

The next weeks we will evaluate MicroWiki and some parties have already a proposal to withdraw all activity of Flandrensis from MicroWiki. Almost 4 years I visit every day MicroWiki. If the majority of Flandrensis votes to leave MicroWiki, I will regret that but support their decision.

Respectfully,

H.R.H. Grand Duke Niels I of Flandrensis, Secretary-General of the Flandrensisian Commonwealth

--Grand Duke Niels of Flandrensis 17:22, 26 May 2012 (GMT)

Not to be disrespectful, but we do have better things to do than to worry about everyones newspapers all the time. Furthermore, when we give people freedom, they act like simpletons and abuse it. Also, there is no such thing as a "MicroWiki Elite". There are just people who act like idiots, and people who don't. We admins try our best to do our job, but an overwhelming amount of you don't make it easy for us. Also, specifically regarding the Gazet, I tried to contact you about the headline of it (because we couldn't decide what it should be) and I never got a direct response. We can't do stuff for you if you don't say what needs to be done. With regards, B.Neil, (Talk | Contribs) 19:56, 26 May 2012 (GMT)

Unlocking "Current Headlines"

I would like to echo Niels's comments regarding the edit-restriction of "Current Headlines". The current setup, apart from being ridiculously elitist, is actually a major pain in the ass for me as Director of the Observer. MicroWiki still doesn't have a protection policy, so I'll refresh Wikipedia's for all of us.

At the moment, Current Headlines has a full-protection, that is, only admins can edit it. Full protection is only justified in cases of vandalism, when articles are being reviewed for deletion and in cases of edit warring. The first two are obviously not relevant while the latter needs to be analyzed. Looking at the page's history, the only edit warring occurred on May 24/25. This case is more a failure of the admins that anything: they should have made it clear immediately that Nemkhavia's article belonged on the "Opinion" section and they should have noticed the breach of 3RR. Instead of intervening on the issue at hand, an admin decided to avoid this by simply protecting the page. While full protection is a useful tool during edit-warring, it is meant to be temporary.

Now, the disgustingly condescending response by Billy Neil to Niels's comment exemplifies this attitude. It is an Admin's and a Patroller's job to clean-up mess on the wiki, to warn/block those involved and develop clear rules for what content belongs where. Just because you can't be bothered to do your job doesn't allow you to lock a page to all editing but admins, installing a ridiculous regime were someone wanting to publish news has to go to an admin who can then use arbitrary screening to choose to publish only the news they like. This is different from reverting because a revert is catalogued in the history of a page and can be discussed. Yes people will occasionally make a mess of a page, but that is no reason to call them "simpletons" and to lock a page to all non-admin users. Get off your high horse and get rid of this frankly elitist system. --SerCenKing 09:34, 21 June 2012 (GMT)

Agreed. Although no one has yet replied to your comment, the issue has at least been resolved, or so it seems. /swέna/ 💬 20:49, 4 June 2013 (GMT)

What an earth is happening to the Main Page!?

As Supreme Leader of Cubodia, I shall question the Main Page. What an earth is going on to this page, although not just the page even the whole site! within this website poor grammar and that stupid lousy clip with cats on it, people who visit this site will think that micronationalism is a joke and i am finding this so embarresing to my country! If this site is not sorted, I shall become more ruthless than Adolf Hitler and Josef Stalin or Pol Pot or so on!

Auto-select search-box

It would be a well-appreciated usability enhancement if you could make it so that the search-box at the top right-hand corner was automatically selected when on the main page. Thanks, /swέna/ 💬 20:46, 4 June 2013 (GMT)

Uncategorized things?

The uncategorized pages/categories/files pages aren't working. I wanted to go through and edit some of these, but if the pages keep acting up I don't see how I can solve categorization issues. Anybody know why this is the case?

Changing Currency.

Ever since the Principality of Wood Thrush was officially founded, we have used Skinks as our national bank note. Many other micronations have used Monopoly money as a medium of exchange, I have thought of switching over to monopoly money. This would be way faster then hand producing. To prevent counterfeiting, I can make a stamp marking it as our own currency, so no one can bring there own in. Any thoughts? Great Thanks - Jon We sing the song of the birds! Dear admins,
It is been a few days I realized that the sections 'Analysis and opinion' and 'More news' were closed to edits except when performed by site administrators. I come to you to ask if this ban is for all users or is specific to my profile (User: Ruthenia). If it is general, I will understand that there are reasons beyond my purview. If it is something particular, I wonder what the offense that was committed by that user and which method of repair is what happened. Respectfully, already thank you for the attention.
