Matthieu Van Der Rest is a statesman of the Principality of Beremagne, member of the first government under Grand Duke Arnaud Auraud and then under the Casanova I and Casanova II governments. Since 30 January 2021, he has been appointed Secretary of State for Ecology and the Environment.
Micronational life
Born on 31 January 2003, in Toulouse (France), Matthieu van der Rest has a secondary education in science with a specialization in Life and Earth Sciences. Very committed as a citizen, he regularly participates in rallies and demonstrations in favour of the environment, and militates for an improvement of the living conditions of animals intended for human consumption. In 2018, he became part of the first government of Grand Duke Aurand, serving as the Principality's Minister for Ecology. He held this position until 15 March 2019.
As Secretary of State
The Secretary of State for Ecology and the Environment is, within the Principality of Beremagne, the administration in charge of preparing and implementing the policy of the Government of His Serene Highness in the fields of sustainable development, environment and green technologies, energy transition and energy, climate, natural and technological risk prevention. The Secretary of State for Ecology and the Environment is placed under the hierarchical authority of the Minister of State.
